Marissa424 1 Posted January 18, 2007 Might Be A Silly Question But I Dont Know The Answer Do They Give You Pain Medication After The Surgery? While In Hispital And For Home? Thanks Being Banded On Feb. 7th
JDru 0 Posted January 18, 2007 Hi Marissa. I had pain medication at the hospital while I was waiting in recovery and the doc sent me home with a prescription for liquid Lortab. I would suggest asking your doctor for the pain med prescription before your surgery so you can have it ready when you want it. I didn't get mine filled before and I was in quite a bit of pain waiting for it to be filled. Good luck!
Marissa424 1 Posted January 18, 2007 How would you describe your pain after surgery? Type (shooting stabbing etc)? on a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the highest? )
JDru 0 Posted January 18, 2007 I would describe my pain like a dull aching inside...mostly around my port incision. I had quite a bit of pain and nausea for the first three days and I was taking pain meds every 4 hours. At the worst it was probably around a 7 or 8. But once the meds kick in you will be fine. Everyone reacts differently. I have a friend who was banded 4 days before me and she only took liquid tylenol for her pain. I guess it's just individual. puddin 7 Posted January 18, 2007 My pain after surgery was at about a 3. The gas pain was the worst - but mostly just an annoyance. I also just took liquid Tylenol.

beachgirl 2 Posted January 18, 2007 I would agree. They sent me home with loritab but my pcp had already prescribed me 5 bottles of liquid loritab, big bottles but I didn't need them. I would say my pain was maybe a 2 if that.
puddin 7 Posted January 18, 2007 Marissa What's my secret? I think my "secret" is counting every calorie in and out. I count calories "out" by wearing the Body Bugg device on my arm. Other than that, I just work my freakin butt off! I jog an hour each day, weight train 3 X a week with a personal trainer, play indoor soccer 3x a week and play volleyball 2x a week. Never knew I liked sports til I could play them!

puddin 7 Posted January 19, 2007 thats my problem i cant exercise right now my weight is hard on my knees how long did you have to weight before you could play? Marissa I have bad knees, too. I didn't start playing soccer until I weighed about 215 pounds. Before that, I just did a lot of the eliptical trainer and in the summer did road biking, which I came to ABSOLUTELY LOVE! Find the thing you love when you're able to do it. For now, find some non-impact exercise. Hey, what about Water aerobics? There's hardly ever an excuse NOT to exercise somehow! GE Mom 0 Posted January 19, 2007 My pain was somewhat worse than some of the folks have described. Yes, I had the worst pain around the port, but I think it was almost as bad as my 2 cesarean operations. It was particularly hard to get up from bed for, say, the first week. I took liquid tylenol with codeine, which tasted so awful that I stopped taking it about day 4. But each day was better than the one before and it was very much worth it.
