I am actually probably doing the rny, did anyone there while u were there do the rny or only the sleeve? I have a friend who went to Dr. Ortiz for the rny and her daughter as well, and another who went to him for the sleeve. I know the sleeve is more common down there so I was curious if he did any rny's that u knew of while u were there.

No there was no one that I had met having it done while I was there. Can I ask what makes you go with the rny over the sleeve? Just curious.

I just feel like if I did the sleeve I would get past what I call my plateau (never lost weight beyond 155 lbs matter what I do) and for me, that's just not ok with me. I have gone from 155 to 255 to 160 back to 220 to 155 and now at 240 over the last 8 years or so amd I'm just done dieting and hitting that plateau and getting discouraged and giving up amd gaining it back and repeating the cycle. I fear if I get to 155-160 and dont get into new territory I will get discouraged and give up again and the sleeve will allow me to eat sweets without consequence and that is a huge downfall for me so I can see me hitting my plateau and not losing and then turning to eating crap again. If I can hit 130 to 140 I will mentally feel that I've conquered the plateau and that is what it will take for me to know without a shadow of a doubt that I will be committed the rest of my life where as if I hit 155-160, I'm not as certain.

For sure! How are u feeling. I'm having my surgery on a monday amd planning on returning to work the next monday. Do u think this is possible? I'm telling my boss and coworkers I'm having my gallbladder removed so it well explain why I'm not feeling great when I return. I have an easy desk job so I'm not too worried but maybe I'm being overly ambitious.

Thank you for the reference. I was just told by Specialized Bariatrics, office of Dr. alejandro lopez, that his credentials on the website is not real. He has no certification for bariatric surgery. He is an assistant surgeon trying to do bariatrics.

Well thats ODD, for over 2 years Dr.Lopez & Dr.Ortiz have been partners working as a team with A Lighter Me. I guess its funny how the bashing starts when someone decides they want to start their own company..

This is a reference for you...

I went their in May and did months of research before I went.

Dr.Ortiz was great and his bedside manners were impeccable... He has done plenty of surgeries ( over 600) He is more than qualified..

Also kinda funny how your user name was just created and you have only 3 post all questioning Dr.Ortiz & his credentials!!!! Sounds kinda like you are a LURKER!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
