Starting to second guess myself

Recommended Posts

I thought I was the only one who felt this way, too. Surgery scheduled for 10/23 and I am suddenly scared. I was so excited to get this done and get on with feeling better (no more joint pain or HBP) but now I am wondering if I'll be able to handle it. I am very fortunate to have a great support system and I know this is my last chance to change my life, but I completely understand your post. I hope the important people in your life realize how much you would like their support to help you through such a major transition. Keeping my fingers crossed :)

Everyone is different no two people are the same. Having said that my point is just because you decided to go another route does not mean this is the best decision for someone else. Cancelling a surgery based on someone elses decision to get healthy is scary. This means that you were not doing this for you. I dont care what other people do in your household the decision should solely be based on you. If you can loose weight without surgery kuddos to you but for people that have to use surgery as a tool to help them because all other measures have been exausted kuddos to them also. No one should not be judged based on the route they took to become apart of a life changing event. So if you dont have anything supportive to say dont say nothing at all. SOMEPEOPLE GOT NERVES

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
