I was actually drinking kombucha on purpose to help with my sleeve. It stretched it enough that I can eat almost half a cup of food at a time. I can burp on command (only girl growing up around guys lol) so I can release the gas as needed. I use carbonation of any kind now to help keep my sleeve pliable. If I don't have anything at all I tend to have issues getting any food down at all that is more than a bite or two.

Lightly carbonated is the key though... so over ice I have to agree with.

Oh and I'm also 9 months out.

My wife is over 2 months out drinks soda over ice any type of diet soda she loves and seems to be doing good. No problems, she felt the same way. A lot of things are said about the sleeve to scare you into doing right. I have read so many conflicting articles but most say your ok and nothing will actually harm your sleeve. Soda i not poison.

My surgeon is one of the top guys in England and says No No to carbonated drinks. He says it's not just the stretching but it can increase hunger later on. I must say I am someone who does as they are told unless it's my husband telling me lol. Good luck with what way you choose to go.

Diet Soda resulted in my being on the toilet (almost passing out) for an entire Friday night (BIG Mistake).

However, what I can use is Sparkling Ice. http://www.sparklingice.com/ It is zero calories and lightly carbonated. The night prior I will usually just twist the cap to let some of the air out and then the next day I drink it. So lightly carbonated becomes REALLY lightly carbonated.

Just a thought.

It's a naturally fermented probiotic drink that's supposed to be REALLY good for you. I had bleeding ulcers for over 10 years and part of my issues revolve around the fact that my stomach hates everything and hurts no matter what I eat. That's thanks to the ulcers not the sleeve. Anyway... kombucha helps my sleeve by keeping healthy bacteria flourishing (probiotics) and by keeping it pliable. Aka carbonation stretches my sleeve just enough to make eating tolerable. Not at the same time but over the course of the day.

I brew tea at home and sweeten it with stevia and fresh lemon. This has been a grate thirst quencher for me and I am enjoying tea again after drinking soda for so many years.

I just cant bring myself to drink tea before my sleeve I hate it. Tea taste like dirt to me. I'm not sure why I always felt like this but I just have never went to drinking it since. I have been drinking the Walmart and crystal light packets. I have not been back on soda but I have been known to drink a few iced over beers at home.

My favorite is when I go somewhere and they have the minute maid light lemonade! Makes me feel like I am having a soda and I'm totally not. I wish more places had it as a fountain choice. :)

I used to love carbonated drinks like sparkling Water, beer, kombucha. Now one tiny sip of carbonation makes me ill. I let them go flat then drink them, like flat diet gingerale. My kombucha won't go flat, though, too many little microbes keeping it happy.

In the first few days post op I took diet 7-up and put it in ice cube trays. Once frozen, no more carbonation but all the taste. So for those of you craving your favorite sodas this may do the trick!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
