Waltd120 1 Posted September 15, 2013 I'm just a couple days post op and find that I can handle small amounts of regular food with no real upset. Is this normal? I don't feel nausea, just not interested and stop eating.
No game 14,437 Posted September 15, 2013 No it's not "normal" because most of us are not released to eat regular food a couple of days after surgery..., Your stomach is raw and numb. So it doesn't surprise me that you don't feel much. I would caution you to be really careful and do not try things out of curiosity. 2 Momonanomo and Macy6 reacted to this
Waltd120 1 Posted September 15, 2013 I tried it because at the hospital I had no problems keeping down Water and the broths that they brought and never felt nausea. My doctor said I could try to move forward but use my better judgement. Basicly, if your stomach doesn't like it then stop. I was wondering if anyone else was able to move thru the food progression like this as well?
joatsaint 2,814 Posted September 15, 2013 You didn't mention if you were going against your doctor's orders, but I would not be pushing the limits of my stomach this soon. Do you really want to take a chance and wind up in the emergency room because you stretched the staple line or a small piece of food gets lodged in the scar tissue? 2 lrs and susantorlone reacted to this

Because in the early stages you won't "feel" much of anything in there...
Waltd120 1 Posted September 15, 2013 OK, sounds good. I will wind it back a few weeks. Just wondering why it seems like my stomach will handle it. To be honest, I had a steel stomach to begin with, it could handle anything and not flinch. LOL But that is also what brought me to the sleeve. Thanks for the feedback! Kinda curious if my doc really did remove some of my stomach lol Lol I wrote almost the same thing at about the same time! I think a lot of people wrote that as a matter of fact.. It will come, the restriction that is. Like I said before its a combo of things swollen stomach nerves endings but fully up and running yet (numb) and soft "slider" type foods. When you hit a more regular diet and add dense Protein trust me you will feel it
Waltd120 1 Posted September 15, 2013 I know. I just thought I would be feeling different, more uneasy I guess. I had no problem waking after surgery, a little discomfort but not bad and no problems with the food.< /p>
SleeviePete 35 Posted September 15, 2013 13 days post op....went out to dinner for the first time tonight, since sleeved, I had grilled tilapia. Ate about 2-3 oz and I was full!!! Still learning when full is full. But I felt that I ate too much. I'm finding it hard not to drink before, during and after...and wine still looks good!! ???? Lol! For lunch I had 5 meatballs and still not much restriction.. Then supper I had shredded chicken and still no pain. Today I introduced these foods and was waiting for pain or some weird feeling... But none! Just hope I'm not the freak that vsg doesn't work on or something! Am I sounding a little manic yet? Everything is making me worry, whew.

It's so odd that some doctors clear you for actual food! At two weeks I was on full liquids then at three weeks it was puréed food and I mean puréed like blended chicken and gravy So again I will say measure!!! Do not go over 1/4 cup because even though he's letting you eat, your ability to feel is not all the way back yet! Oh I found my post Ok sign me up to this thread I was sleeved on the 13th and I have not felt full I can chugged my Protein drinks no problem ... I'm starting to wonder if enough stomach was taken out!!
LMarie 26 Posted September 15, 2013 Well I feel a little better! It is crazy that all doctors are so different! Keep us updated on your progress waltd... I'm going say a little prayer for my stomach nerves to bring me some restriction! 1 No game reacted to this
