Hungry feeling...3 weeks out!

Recommended Posts

3 weeks out and started feeling hungry today...is this normal?

I'm following my diet plan to a tee, and today started to feel hungry. Could this be the the change from pureed to soft solids??

Has anyone felt this 3 week's out???

be careful because of mind hunger. I found that I wasn't really hunger it was my mind so I would get busy doing something and if the hunger didn't go away I ate some yogurt, popsicles, pudding, Jello.< /p>

That could very well be what I'm experiencing. Need to get on top of this sooner rather than later.

Thanks

Yes it's normal for many of us. We've been on pre-ops, we're eating nothing now. Our bodies are starving and they let us know. While some feel no hunger, many of us seem to feel hungry when it's time to eat. The saving grace for now seems to be that a little food satisfies us, and we don't seem to need to eat for another little while.

As you are able to eat more, you will be able to go longer between mini-meals. I'd suggest that you track total calories and don't exceed your guidelines, and other than that, don't worry about it.

Another culprit is acid. Are you taking an acid reducer? If not you might want totalk to your doctor about it. I take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. Acid can make you feel really hungry when you really aren't.

Thank you...I'm glad I'm not alone. Great idea on counting calories. Do you have suggestions for a simple app for the tracking?

No I'm not. I'll mention that to my doctor. Thanks for the info.

I use myfitnesspal.com. It's easy' date=' free and you can track exercise. You can customize it to YOUR nutrition goals like calories, Protein, etc.[/quote']

I use the same thing. In fact, there's a thread here with people's MFP names, and it's fun to add others and see what people further long are eating by peeking at their diaries :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
