Dies anyone feel like they werent sleeved?!?

Recommended Posts

Sometimes I feel like nothing was done except cutting me open:(

I never feel that full mark, I just get scared and quit. But I can eat about 3 tablespoons of puréed food and never feel it!! I'm 2 1/2 weeks out. I can drink Water just like I used to!

Drinking Water like you used to is fine according to my Dr.

It pretty much moves in and out of your stomach.

You probably won't feel full or a restriction with your sleeve until you are eating more dense Proteins later on.

Just stick to your plan while your stomach is healing which takes at least 6 weeks.

Good luck on your journey!

I felt the same way. I can drink a 32 oz water bottle in no time. But I didn't start feeling "full" until the solid food point. Also, I think the surgeon cut my sleeve bigger because I can eat a good amount sometimes. Well, a good amount for a sleever not a good amount like I used to! Lol. I am still losing though. Slower paced for me but I am ok with that if it helps me avoid excess skin!

I had similar concerns... even in the hospital I drank 80 ounces of Water in a single day... I also ate at maximum ammounts when I was on purees and only stopped because the measured amount of food I gave myself was gone.... I didn't feel my restriction until I started eating chicken.. then it was like WAMMO! THERE IT IS!!!!!! Now I do little tricks to make myself feel restriction when I want to enjoy foods that "slide"... for example.. tortilla chips and cottage cheese are both sliders for me, BUT if I eat them together it sticks and gives me satiety with a small portion. Also a small amount of cashews at the end of a meal will help me feel full as well.

Thanks so much. I'm by no means an expert on this ;)

Just learning day by day!

But you are always very helpful and very positive, and non-judgemental and that's important :)

A slider is just that it slides in and slides out pretty quickly. It doesn't stick around to make you feel full. You are having a great recovery and not experiencing any trouble. Don't fret! When you start real food you are going to find out just how much food you really can't eat. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
