But w/ surgery costs coming up and ect.... Im going to wait a bit before i get this one. All of my silver jewlery is James Avery so I really want this one.

But for now i'll stick w/ the Laurens Hope One .

Are you really supposed to wear them on the left arm? I hadn't heard that before. I've been wearing it on my right.

I got mine from Canadian Medic Alert. It says:

Diabetes on Insulin

Gastric Lap Band: Needs flouroscopy with NG tube

It also has an ID # and an 800# that medical personnel can call to get more details with all my medical history as well as my doctor's contact information and my emergency contact information.

I got a very plain stainless steel Bracelet because I did not want it to be mistaken for jewelery of any sort. I feel much better having it.

Argh. I have a tattoo on my left arm and I don't wear anything on it. I know the Medic ID is about safety and not accessorizing (and believe me, it certainly is the ugliest piece of "jewelry" I have), but I really don't want to wear it on my left arm.

I think if its the " Obvious " medical ID type your probably ok wearing it on your Right arm . if its more of the jewelry type I would wear it on the Left .

Just my opinion .

Thanks, Mindy. I have the super basic version, so I don't think anyone is going to mistake it for a Bracelet from Tiffany & Co. Hopefully if I am ever in a situation that requires a medical professional to see the id, they will have the wherewithall to check out my right wrist.

I purcased a medical alert Bracelet today from www.bodyilluminations.com and when my order was received the owner Hollie had a few questions about my order and I called her at (954)525-6995 and she was very helpful and saved me money from my original order. The bands are interchangeable and I put Gastric Lapband No Tube without Scope. Check out the website she has alot to chose from. I choose the double stand medical alert bracelet with a charm.

Hi Mindy -- Try going to a Cracker Barrell -- they are selling braclets $5.99 that connect to a watch face (cost??). Wear your braclet and give it a shot. I am going to.

When I saw them I didn't have my LHB on - I am like you getting to big.

LH also will resize if you send back to them.

How much does LH Charge to resize do you know ?

I wonder what quality the Cracker Barrell ones are ? Thanks for the tip though

I've read the first page....

never even considered it.... what's the purpose?

So, if you are unable to communicate...they may look at the Bracelet. And if you are unconcious...there will be no food going down anyways...only an iv.

Why do we need one?

The question to ponder is why are you unconcious -- are you breathing?

There is tube that they place down your throat - and if they don't know about the LapBand they can puncture your esophogus (sp?)/area due to restriction we have.

The braclet let's them know - No BLIND TUBE - gastric banding.

Hope that helps.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
