NtvTxn 1,262 Posted September 22, 2013 Is 1/3 of a cup of food about the amount of food a sleeve can handle? I'm just starting this whole process, I'm still waiting for a call from the surgery department.. For the first 4 - 6 weeks, I could eat an eighth of a cup of broth, Soup, soft foods (depending on the stage I was in). Slowly but surly you can eat a little more, which is too bad, i wish I was still eating a third of a cup at a time!! My doctor doesn't want his patients to EVER eat more than a cup at one meal. I was three years out this past June 10th - and I cannot eat a full cup of food. Depending on what I am eating, 3/4 cup, and that still isn't a lot, compared to what I could eat pre-op, but some times I feel like it IS a lot. All the head games! NtvTxn 1,262 Posted September 22, 2013 Hi there - I'm five weeks out from surgery and on soft foods since four weeks. Today for the first time I got a Chipotle bean bowl (no rice) and figured it would last me for a few meals. I got a mix of pinto and black Beans with cheese, guac on the side. I took 1/3 of a cup of the Beans and some cheese and added 2 Tablespoons of plain nonfat Greek yogurt to boost the Protein. Are the beans okay to eat? I'm not even halfway through the 1/3 c I put in my dish, but all of a sudden I got nervous about the bean coverings. Are non-pureed/ non-mashed beans okay on a soft food diet? Thanks! Look on line at the calories/nutritional value. I am pretty sure their beans are seasoned with bacon, but that is still your choice. I would eat about 1 TB of refried beans when eating out, and some times they are 'vegetarian' and some times they are not. I did eat FF refried beans at home with a sprinkle of 2% cheddar in them. Yum!
