Measures, Measures, Measures

Recommended Posts

I see a lot of discussion on this site about what, when, and how often to measure progress. I think I'm in the smaller camp in that I weigh every morning. But for me it's not really an ordeal or major event, but rather something I just do (and have for years) at the same time I brush my teeth. For people who get obsessed with what the scale says, I agree that daily measures are counter-productive. My two primary reasons for the daily measures are: 1) the mere fact of weighing myself reminds me to plan well for the day ahead (eating, exercise, Water, etc.), and 2) because I feel that seeing the daily fluctuations that I see are just little ripples in a great big scheme.

Of course, my children say I weigh each day because I am an Excel geek and derive some pleasure from seeing the measures plot themselves out day-by-day. Hmmm...perhaps they are right.

weigh every morning.

Bea

I also weigh every morning

it works for me

i also like to be aware of fluctuations

especially if a couple of lbs up stays for more than a couple of days

i will then nip the excess couple of lbs in the bud

i think a lot of people weigh daily

luv your spreadsheet :)

it keeps you on your toes, working with your weight loss - seeing the figures :)

whatever works for you, (or anyone) thats what counts!!! :)

you might be a "little" obsessive ;) , ( so am I, "probobly others too!!)

but i'm not gonna report you ;)

39 lbs down and counting

keep up the great job

kathy

congrats

LipstickLady...I'll make a copy with instructions and post it later for anyone that wants it. Should have thought of that before. :-)

Bea Amaya, I really like the time and effort you have put into your Sleeve journey. The best way to understand and drive improvements is by documenting and charting your success and failures. I love your detailed categories and illustrations. I was hoping you can message me the excel file so I can start tracking this way too.

Thanks Bea Amaya!!

Okay...For those of you that wanted a copy of my spreadsheet, I've cleaned it up and put a handful of instructions (see the "Instructions" tab) to get you started. I'm going to try and attach the link to the file below, but if it doesn't work, I'll try something else. While I won't have time for a major re-design, I certainly have time to help you thorough any little difficulties you might have (I haven't really tested this cleaned up version). Just drop me a line here, so everyone can see the question, and I'll see what I can do to help.

GOOD LUCK!

P.S. Don't forget to "enable editing" after the file downloads and before you try to make changes.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
