Jessica Fountain Peterson 0 Posted September 13, 2013 My husband was sleeved on June 10. Since then he has been very ill. He has been hospitalized for severe dehydration a total of 12 times. He cannot eat any solid food without vomiting & has a hard time even getting Water down. He has constant nausea & a pain at the top of his stomach. He also constantly spits & has to carry around a cup everywhere he goes. His doctor hasn't been much help. He keeps telling him that it will improve but it doesn't. I feel strongly that he's experiencing bile reflux. I've read that revision surgery where the sleeve is converted to the roux-en-y bypass has been extremely effective. Anyone have any experience with this that they can share? Also I should add that he has lost 106 pounds since then.
BladeFox 235 Posted November 15, 2013 That doesn't sound quite right. I would have him see another surgeon if possible. Bile has a different color and if that's the case it's probably an infection. Great weight loss but what difference does it make if he feels sick all the time. Good Luck!
Beach Lover 1,084 Posted November 15, 2013 Is he using an acid reducer? I'm guessing he is and if so I would strongly suggest a different doctor. The spitting sounds like the reaction after eating to much. My guess is he probably isn't eating to much and you need to look into why this is happening. His doctors lack of concern with all of the misery is disconcerting. He had done wonderful with his weight loss but he shouldn't be having all this trouble at this time and really does need to be looked at. I hope he feels better soon and you are a great wife for looking out for him.
