I personally could only stand muscle milk! Better then some other powders! But sometimes for a variety I would add in a tbsp ish of Jello pudding mix in there cause there are a few different flavors!! I also found I love like cold fushion, smoothies shops, I would stop and usually grab a different one every day cause they have like 32 flavors!

I mean if i can find anything i can tolerate ill live it on it for a month. Doesnt matter if i buy individually at $5 a piece, not buying any other groceries ya know... Just have to figure something out....some docs dont seem to care what u drink as long as Protein low cal low fat low sugar, others seem to b more conservative and want certain brand followed for week or two... Idk if it matters....

BariWise makes an Orangeade that (for me) did not have the texture or smell of regular Protein drinks. Also, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury makes a chicken Soup that was a very good, savory option to the traditional shakes.

Some sites will let you get some samples too. Best of luck finding some you like.

I'm soon to join your journey. I gag sometimes with certain favors. I find citrus favors more tolerable. My Wellness doc sells Health Wise fruit Protein drinks with 20 grams of Protein. Lemon Razzy I love. Peach Tea is ok.

I did buy a NutriBullet and waiting its arrival. It blast the hell out of some fruits and veggies and makes them into pure liquid. I'm thinking I will add the flavorless protein to them. It wasn't cheap, but I figured I won't be eating meat for a while. Check it out online. The guy who represents the product wrote a book on all the Super Foods on Earth. I learned a lot. I believe this will be a healthy approach and creative approach! Of course I'm checking with my Nutritionist today about how to go about getting enough protein in.

I wish you the best! Lets keep in touch. :-)

I haven't tried many yet, surgery is in November, but on that I did and really liked was Isopure. The grape flavor is pretty good. You can get them at GNC.< /p>

Good luck!

Unjury makes a good Protein Drink. They have a chicken Soup flavor that tastes just like cop o noodles soup. The chocolate splendor flavor just tastes like good choc milk. I use almond or flax milk to mix it. Never cows milk.

Animal Protein is the best Protein for our tiny tummies. I'm lactose intolerant so I do soy right now until I can eat regular foods. I asked my Dietician about Almond and Rice milk. She did not recommend it due to the need to get in the best quality protein which comes from regular low fat milk.

I have used the Unjury chocolate Splendor and the the strawberry Sorbet, mixed with skim milk. It is a good start in the morning with 28g of Protein. Adding a little ice to my Ninja makes it more like a shake or smoothie

There is one set of Protein Drinks that I like. Its called E.A.S. AdvantEDGE Carb Control Protein Shakes. I've like all three flavors I've found. They have RIch Dark chocolate, strawberry Cream, Chocolate Delight (I think), and French vanilla. They have 0 sugars and 17 grams of Protein. You can find them with the weight loss drinks around the pharmacy in Kroger and Walmart.< /p>

Yeah, it only has an abundance of Calcium, riboflavin, B12, Vitamins e and d... Oh wait... I guess it does have some value after all.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
