Hi there! I live in Reno and am currently waiting for insurance approval to have LB surgery with Dr. Ganser.

I feel I'm pretty well prepared for all the changes the surgery will bring but one... I'm a gulper when I drink.. I have a really hard time taking small sips... but I'm working on it!

I am "not" having to "sip", I don't think I gulp but I definately have not had to "sip". And I see banders at the support groups not sipping but drinking fromwater bottles just like I do.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

I don't have my powder yet, but can someone answer for me - does the mix contain Splenda or sucralose at all?

Thanks!

Nvgirl:

I will be at my office Sat and Sun AM if you want to swing by and sample the shakes. ~Let me know... I am by Meadowood mall, I will show you (if you want to see) the holes in my stomach.

Gail;

I was reviewing some of Chris' notes and he too got real sore night #2 around his port and he too walked alot on day #2, so suggestion is that you take it easy to avoid port pain.

I never take pain meds and I am chomping at the bit until the time I can take my next dose.

I don't think I did anything BAD I just should have not done so much.

The places where they cut to place the lapband. I should have said "scars".

Ok, that sounds better :)

I've had laprascopic surgery three times, so I'm thinking they'll be in the same areas that they've always cut me... I think I'm running out of extra organs to get rid of!

Pam, yeah, my port area is pretty red and angry looking. I can feel the place the port is at but I know Dr Ganser placed the port DEEP because of my activity level. I also carry most of my weight in my middle so it covers it up. So long as it doesn't get hot I would not worry too much.

I just had the best tasting snack. Some fat free yougurt, baby food apples and cherry with cinimon on it (Steph's concoction!!)

I am having some problems eating too fast right now, I really need to work on that.

Congrats on your approval NVgirl, that seems quick! Get the list of stuff you need to do and start plugging away at it. It will make the time go by quicker.

See ya all

Chris

Ok you guys I have spent the better part of 8 hours in Recovery on my @$#%^%&&*@!!!!Computer. It will still probably take me another 8 hours to get the hardware all loaded again! All HP could tell me in Pakistani was that some files got corrupted. I spoke to 4 different people and I am sorry, I try to be nice but I couldn't hardly understand a thing they said. I was really getting upset and I don't like to be rude ya know! I felt like the last one was doing it on purpose! Meanwhile because I couldn't understand them correctly, I ended up spending $70.00 to have them run a backup disk. Jeesh! I just should have insisted on speaking to someone that could speak English better. OK, I AM DONE!

Thanks for the advice on the taking it easy Pam and Chris. I will.

I needed my puter so I could get my fixes on Lapband.com hehehe!

Chris;

All my scars are warmer than than everywhere else.

It is 940pm and I am not in any pain but I think I just over did it today. I only had to take pain meds when I was out and about and as soon as I got home. Since then everything has been fine. I hate to ever think that I am too sick to do anything and fight it to the end.

I still keep telling my dh that I think I am dreaming! I am so excited about this opportunity to finally get my weight under control. Nobody knows anything, not even my sister or brother, I just tell people I have had hernia surgery because I lift tables and chairs all day long ~ party and convention set up and tear down rentals, so it is a believable story.

I have no prob with drinking fast or eating at normal speed. I am hoping I feel restriction like you did on day #3. I bet that was the most awesomest feeling in the world! Good for Steph getting creative! Is she a RN as well?

I had 2 bites of cottage cheese tonight ~ just to see if I could and no prob. I also had Soup and some SF Jello.

I took a nap around 6, and I have not napped in 2+years, had terrible nightmares and have felt ok ever since.

Gail;

That is interesting, I too last week had to reload Windows and lost everything on my computer, that was the first time I ever had to do that, and I had the exact same thing on my mind: I am addicted to Lapbandtalk.com LOL!

Are you staying in Sparks after your surgery for a couple days? Or are you going home to Hawthorne? I would suggest stay here for a couple days because you will feel every bump in the road all the way home. Well maybe not, unless you take the pain meds.

Well, I can definitely stay if I want to. Since my surgery is 9 am and I stay overnite too, I will see how I am doing the second day.

It's putting a smile on my face right now thinking about you guys and your progress and attitude! Good Job!

I think I am going to bed now. I have to go to Yerington with my DH to look at a truck with him so I may be in and out.

sleep well!

OK,

My wife came up with another really tastey shake for me this AM.

1 cup nonfat milk, vannilla protien powder 1 scoop, 1/4 fresh energy protien bar 3 spoonfuls of nonfat yougurt, sprinkle of splenda. Mix in the blender till bar is beat to death haha!

Tastes awsome. It is alot to drink in one sitting, but it has 44 grams of protien!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
