Well after a few more hours of this I feel better. Your right, the broth helps. I had some broccoli too and I never realised how good it tastes:)

I think tomorow will be better. I did find out you really don't want to mix up a shake and let it sit in the fridge for 15 or 16 hours! Makes it taste pretty gross

I am gonna call DR gansers office in the AM and see If I can reschedual my preop appt. It is on thursday and if I can get it redone I can go snowmobiling on thursday!!! This will probably be my last trip this year so I am really hoping

Well hello to all! Stick with the Bariatrix I know that you can all do it, I have faith in all of you.

Well surgery went very well! After the anethisiologist came in to the preop area and gave me my "cocktail" I pretty much was out of it. I don't remember anything until the time I woke up. Surgery was at 9:00 and we were home by 1:30. The worst part was the upper GI study they do after surgery. You have to swollow about 2oz.s of barium and it is disgusting!!

When you get home make sure that you stay on top of your pain. I went too long with out meds and I was in total agony. I have only had to use the phenergan a few times though. I am having some trouble peeing so I have a call into Dr. Gansers office and we will see what he says.

This is so worth it. The end result will make me very proud. Well I am getting tired again so I will talk to you all later!

I CALLED the nutritionist and was asking for pointers on the nausea and the starvation, she said "suck it up", of course in very nice terms. I never told her I was bloatedl; but that does go away after a couple days.

I told her I slightly cheated a couple times, she said broth broth broth and make sure we do 11 scoops per day spread out and that should help a little, but no other pointers.

I am a little happy that I am not the only one starving here.

Right on~ I am sooooo glad you told me about the anesthesiologist cocktail they give you. I am very concerns about me getting stage fright once I arrive at the hospital. So I will ask for mine during cocktail hour (which would be as soon as I arrive)

I heard to walk walk walk for the gas in your shoulder.

You have already lost 20 since the start, that is fabulous, and I bet it is noticeable too!

UPdate!Update!

After I got the pep talk from the nutritionist, my headache, nausea and starvation feeling made me feel like crap.

So kept saying "are you SURE you are getting 11 scoops daily"? and I started writing it down and maybe I was not because, I felt full tonight at dinner to the point I did not finish my plate! woohoo

So here is what I did.

at 430 I did a 1 scoop snack

@ 620 I drank a crystal light drink

@645 I drank a 3 scoop shake

@645 I drank 2 cups of chick broth

@645 I tried to eat 2 cups salad with balsalmic vinigar and was so full I could not finish!!! woohoooo! Thank God!

and at 730pm I have no headache and not nauseated.

This is really cool.

I don't know if it is phsycological or whatever but I am not hungry right now.

I picked up my meds at the pharmacy today. My pharmacist has known me for 15 years and asked what I was doing, why was I getting these and I told him I was going in for a hernia operation; that is my story from this day forward to everybody, not that I am ashamed but if I am going to lose weight I want the full 100% credit.

My wife and I have been doing a couple of things to help me out. Becasue I work such long shifts, I eat most of my meals at work. She picked up a mini blender for me and I take it to work. we also put the powder in labeled baggies so I can just dump them in. ICE HELPS!!! I blend ice up with my shakes and it makes them much better.

We ddin't find a magic bullit, but a single size personal blender that works pretty good. Plus it is only 13 dollars.

It is about 1 hour long, I think you should go. It may be a waste of your time, depending on what you are looking for.

The one at Christmas was a Santa reading stupid ignorant story (can't remember the content) BUT what was the most important part was the interaction with everybody in the room sitting at round tables (not like st. mary's) make sure you sit with somebody at your table~ to benefit more. And if you hear a good conversation at somebody else's table pull up a chair!

It was good for me, I was at the beginning stages and wanted to know "would I really lose weight and not starve", I was assured I would. There are people there who are in varying stages of this process, some losing at a very slow pace, some gained, some who use this tool as we want to use ours.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
