lump sensation in my throat

Recommended Posts

I went to the ER yesterday, I had massive burning in my chest & my stomach was achy. Blood work came back fine & they had me drink a GI cocktail & they put some Reglan & pain killer in my IV......lo & behold, my lump in the throat went away for the 5hrs I was there! My lump is definitely heartburn/reflux related & it totally sucks!

Yes indeedy... I'm back to yoghurt and all things boring today as a consequence of last nights activities... I can't do another day like yesterday. It is categorically, a very miserable experience. x

UH OH, Madam Reverie! Are you currently on a PPI?

I will be getting my tonsils taken out tomorrow so, I will be forced to liquids & very bland foods for quite some time......This may be a very good thing!

I was issued PPI, yes. Except, I'd gone three days without it and was tickety-boo, naively thinking I'd be fine. Sadly, something hit me badly yesterday and took me out till 5am. Consequently, when I opened my eyes this morning, the first thing that went down my throat was a PPI. I'm going to do everything in my power to avoid having that again... Nasty. Best of luck for your tonsillectomy tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you :) x

Molly3 I have actual indigestion tonight so I guess that the Pepcid isn't the solution. Off to the doc tomorrow. Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks girls!

Madam Reverie, PPI is now your new BFF! Which one are you on?

ElyQuint, I will post on FB tomorrow. Please ask your doctor for something stronger to go with the Pepcid....NO BUENO!

XOXO

Omeprazole. I love it so much, I think I may attempt to become a pharmaceutical rep for the company who makes it....

I upped my anti acids to omeprozole and ranitidine, plus the occasional tums on the go. I'm sleeping with 4 pillow, too. The lump is better. The dr put me on reglin, too. I think the lumo might be scarred tissue in your esophagus and needs to heal before going away.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
