6 month pre op diet

Recommended Posts

I am a longtime lurker but this is my first post. I am not sleeved yet as I had to do a 6 month diet for my insurance. I failed miserably and now the NP in charge of the diet is holding up my team approval because of "compliance concerns." I am really upset. I thought the 6 moth diet was just a "hoop" or else I would have taken it more seriously. I am also really upset with myself. Why couldn't I pull it together for this supervised diet. I am a nurse and we HATE when people make excuses for being noncompliant. But here I am. Anyway, I have another month tacked on to the supervised diet to "prove myself." How did I get here? So ashamed.

Sorry this should have gone in the pre op thread, but I would welcome any words of wisdom.

It's ok lyn..it's only one more month..we are doing this because we need help.. I can't tell you how many times I told myself I was going to lose weight for an event or vacation only to feel like a failure because I never did what I intended to do.. I have surrendered to the fact that I need help and although I know this surgery is only a tool I think the restriction and relearning how to eat is exactly what I need. I'm 47 years old and I am tired of telling myself I am a failure because I can't lose weight and keep it off on my own..be kind to yourself and start where you stand! Yesterday is gone! Move forward and love yourself in the process..you are doing this surgery to help yourself..good for you..tomorrow is a new day my friend ! Good luck to you in your journey

During my 9 month pre op diet, I gained about 12 lbs. my surgeon was fine with it, in fact, he said it was normal. My insurance still approved me within 3 days after paperwork was submitted.
