How long till energy returns?

Recommended Posts

Hi...I am in my fourth week out, and am just exhausted. I felt great all last week, and weekend, but the past three days I just feel like a truck hit me. I can do a little bit, then I am just wiped out. Sometimes even showering is too much. I know I am probably trying to do too much again, but I am not a sitter. We moved last weekend, and I helped finish the packing. I took it easier on Monday and Tuesday, then did my shots for my RA which can always give me this blah feeling. I guess I was just hoping to have more energy after my surgery than I did before, and I did that third week........Help?

Might want to have your surgeon check your labs, sometimes low energy is related to low potassium

Websters dictionary - "Surgery" When a surgeon........wait wait wait ......we all know the lecture.....but what is the real truth???

You think all that gurgling coming from your insides is just random noise???? If you place a stethoscope on your belly, this is what you'll hear..

"Hey, you out there....didn't you get the memo? REST and Recuperation." It's like Armageddon in here.....slashing and stapling, shoving everything all around, floods and burning and all this vacant space everywhere. Where they'd take that section of the fuel storage warehouse? "What are we supposed to do with all this empty space????"

"And you out there using up all the energy......"Cmon, we need that in here!!" "It's bad enough with the fuel shortage now." How we supposed to repair all this mayhem without energy?" Half of us are still stumbling around all groggy from the big sleep"......!!

And speaking of fuel supply.....ya wanna watch the quality of that stuff you've been supply'n. "With such a low amount, we need the good stuff. Ya know....the high Protein stuff"

"Look, either you stop using up all the energy so we can get the repair work done, or we're going on strike." "And from what I hear those non-union guys that they bring in from that place called the Emergency Room, are a whole lot worse"

" So cut us come slack and go easy on the energy out there and we will be able to turn this project over to you much sooner."

"And one more thing........No more renovations for awhile" .........and that includes that Plastic thing I got wind of"........."Nice talkin to ya....."

What, no stethoscope? Well, take my word for it, that's whats going on....... In the meantime Get some rest! ;)

My energy didn't return until week 5. Since then, I've been like the energizer bunny. Believe me, your energy will increase in due time.

Hang in there and you'll be find & loving your sleeve.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
