Angie!! 24 Posted September 14, 2013 I went back to work at day 9 (yesterday). Desk job. Thought I could have gone back earlier. It was exhausting. I stayed 4 hours and then came home and slept for 2 hours and felt like total crap the rest of the day. Sometimes we overestimate out bodies. It takes 3 months for your sleeve to heel. Be patient. TBodmer71 245 Posted September 14, 2013 I will be out for a total of 4 weeks. I utilized 2 weeks of vacation time, and then 2 weeks of short term disability insurance. I go back to work on the 23rd. I still get real tired in the afternoon. I am still on a liquid diet until the 23rd also. I am hoping to be able to have a bit more energy by then.

Guga 0 Posted September 18, 2013 I went back to work on day 4 (took two days off), however I was lucky and had no complications and reacted well to the anesthesia. Also I have a desk job. Good luck
J.Diesel 220 Posted September 18, 2013 You'll need two weeks. First week to get used to your surgery and any discomfort, I was in the hospital 3 days 2 nights. This is normal practice for my surgeons office. the second week, you need to continue to adapt to the liquid diet. Once you go back to work after the 2 weeks, you'll start the pureed phase. Just my 2 cents...
Blondiee 278 Posted September 18, 2013 Kaiser (CA) recommends that you take off of work for 4 weeks. We have short term disability here at my job that will pay me 100% for up to 6 weeks. So, I'm taking off for 4 weeks and will allow my body to heal and to get used to my new way of eating. 1 slimagainsoon reacted to this

back2barb78 890 Posted September 19, 2013 My concern is not going back too soon when I've heard people say that they smell after surgery. I want to stay away from work until I'm extra ok in that arena. I'm a labor and delivery nurse and am in very close contact with my patients doing epidurals we basically are hugging each other. I don't want to offend anyone and would be supremely embarrassed. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(} 1 slimagainsoon reacted to this

And pregnant women have sensitive noses too..... going back too soon is a no-go. I hope my doctors will honor my request. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
lazerider 78 Posted September 19, 2013 Hello my SD was Wednesday August 19,2013. I was in the ER on the Sunday following my release date of August 21,13 for dehydration, came home the same day, went to visit my DR and was re admitted for more dehydration , stay in the hospital for three days, I was told I would need more time at home So as of now I will be returning to work in October it will be two whole months of being home. My suggestion is don't rush and take it easy. Jobs will be there but our health is more important I am resting and following all of the doctors orders
Brighteyes 237 Posted September 19, 2013 I agree! This is what sick time is supposed to b used for!!! I use to work at a company that didn't distinguish between sick leave and time off. Basically you were allocated some much time off during the year and how you took it was up to you. But for those that do have sick leave and are required to have a doctors note to use it for any extended amount of time I wanted to share something. You are under no obligation to disclose what you are seeing a doctor for or the medical reason you need the time off to your employer. You're doctor simple needs to write a letter/note stating you will not be able to work until whatever date he deems necessary.
