Stalls- 8 weeks out

Recommended Posts

I am 8 weeks out and I keep experiencing stalls. I had my first stall at 3 weeks. It seems like every since then, I will stall for about a week and a half and then I'll lose about 4 or 5 pounds really fast and then I will stall again for about a week and a half. Is anyone else experiencing this. I have lost 27 pounds since surgery on July 16th and have lost 41 pounds since I start the whole journey. I am content with the loss, but didn't know if this was normal or not. Would love to hear if anyone else is experiencing this. Also, any tips to make the stalls not last quite as long?

yep, having your weight go down in a stair step pattern is perfectly normal per my surgeon's office and what I see other people post here. I'm not able to track mine that carefully since I don't weigh very often, but just judging by how my clothes fit, how big I feel, etc., I think mine is doing that stair step pattern too.

I hope my weight is doing this I decided not to weight myself until Sunday because I have been on and off that scale just about everyday, and the number is really going no where. I will wake up loosing ounces then they increase and I'm just tired of feeling like I'm stuck to the scale. I feel good, and my clothes are looser. I'm going to try and relax this weekend. I have been on a stall for about 2 weeks now I believe.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
