Scars from PS

Recommended Posts

It has been great getting all the informtaion from everyone who has had PS, what I am curious about is how the scars are doing and how long it takes for them to fade? I am looking at having a LBL, BL, and an arm lift but I am worried about how I will look with all the scars. I would love to see some pictures of how well they fade or how long does it take for them to start fading?

Thanks

I have had plastic surgery with three different surgeons and in my opinion the way your scars heal has a lot to do with the skill of the surgeon. I recently had an arm lift in January and the scars are noticeable pink and some of it white. Now, am I happy that I can fit my arms in any jacket or sweater absolutely would do it again in a heartbeat, it is the price you pay for having P.S.

Thank you, most of the pictures I've seen have been right after surgery and I know they are going to be pretty red but wondering how they look say a year out. Glad to hear you have no regrets.

I went on you tube and watched video of people that had had PS after Bariatric surgery. There were some that were a year or so post op. I found it interesting to see how the scars were placed on the arm lift. The video I watched showed the subject raising her arms and moving them in different positions. The scars were placed so they only showed when she raised her arms up pretty high. She also said her surgeon went farther up into her axils because she had skin sag extending into there. You Tube seems to have everything!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
