Wow that was fast!!!Did your insurance not require a certain Amount of monthly visits or had you already been on WW before?

My first appt was 8/15- I have my psych eval on 9/23 and then my Sept nut visit and my final nut visit is 10/16. I'm really hoping for a fast approval so I can have an October surgery. Everything has gone relatively fast in reality but it feels like its taking forever!

My insurance did not request anything, really, other than having bmi of 40+! I had to get a letter of support from pcp, see NUT, get blood work, get psych eval, endoscopy, physical therapy appointment and attend 3 support group meetings and lose10lbs!

I just made all appoints in quick succession, sometimes 2 in one day! Luckily , the center has support group meetings twice a week!

Good luck to you! And fingers crossed for a quick approval!

My doctor was amazing, I started the process in July, and I'm going in October. Setting up the appointments and pushing them for ASAP really helped. Needed psych eval, endo, blood work, two support groups (although I go every week), approval letter from PCP, and cardiologist clear. I am on Coumadin so I will be getting surgery for a filter a week before I get the sleeve done. Also, where I am they do blood work three days before surgery to confirm weather you have smoked any ciggs weather your a smoker or non smoker. The endoscopy is dome three days prior to surgery here as well.

October 14! Yippee!

Same here. Everything is happening quickly for me. My first consult was 9/12/13 and my surgery is 10/14/13. Barely a month! I'm self-pay so I'm sure that not having to jump through insurance hoops is helping me along. I do have a patient education class scheduled for 9/27. Anxious and excited right now. My surgeon is David Treen at West Jefferson (near New Orleans).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
