I am playing the same game! I have Anthem Blue Cross PPO and it has been a week and a half. I think the Insurance Coordinator is about sick and tired of me :( Good Grief how long does it take? She told me that if she didn't hear by the end of the day yesterday, she would call first thing this morning. BUT.... I have not heard a word from her yet. This is killing me.

I don't but I remember waiting and calling in for updates. It was very stressful. But now I'm 6 months post op and it feels like everything happened so fast.

I had to wait a month and only got an answer after I called daily for a week. Turned out the problem was their computer system that said my plan didn't cover bariatric - even though I supplied them with the written documentation that it did! Now 3+ months post surgery I am having major problems getting them to pay the correct amount to the providers! Insurance is a HUGE pain in the rear!

About a week, but from day five onward I called EVERY day. I figured they'd get tired of me calling and move me up the pile lol

Congrats on your current weight loss. I was lucky enough that my insurance didn't require a diet before surgery lol.

Okay... I couldn't take it anymore so I called the insurance company myself just now. Good News!!!! They told me that my surgery was approved late yesterday afternoon, but they have probably not notified my doctor's office yet. I just emailed the surgery coordinator to let her know what I have found out (I am sure she is sooooo annoyed with me),

This just became very REAL!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
