I'm 3 weeks out and I must say I expected to have lost more than I have.

Day of surgery I was 240....today I am 225. Is this good weight loss? I know everyone loses differently, but I have neen following my diet to a tee. My weight keeps fluctuating. Ill lose then gain a few. I thought this didn't happen until later on.

Any advice?

15 lbs in 3 weeks is great. Don't doubt yourself. You are still healing so be prepared for the weight to fluctuate a little while longer. What may help also is to not weigh yourself more than once a week!

Stay off the stupid scale!! It will drive you crazy. You are doing just fine and losing weight at a good pace. Sit back and watch the lbs disappear and your pants fit one morning and in the afternoon, bam! They start sliding off and are rather baggy. Drink as much Water as you can and eat high Protein and you will do this.......:P

Take a deep breath and remember that this is a life long journey. Slow losers are even better because it gives your body the opportunity to adjust! I too am a slow loser and it was hard for me not to be obsessed with "losing weight". As long as you are sticking to a good diet plan the weight will come off! And you will be HEALTHY. So put the scale away and enjoy your life...and dont compare yourself to everyone else, i only lost 20lbs post op! And stalled but eventually started losing again! With the new healthy way we are eating...the fat has no choice but to melt off! good luck and congrats on all your accomplishments!

Perhaps weigh yourself once a week on the same day and at the same time.......:P

You're doing great! Remember, your body is still adjusting. I'm 10 weeks out and have lost 57 pounds. I lost the same amount as you during my first few weeks, then hit a MAJOR stall.

I'm telling you this so you won't panic when the time comes. You will stall. But, remain encouraged. My first stall occurred right after the three week mark. It scared and discouraged me, because I didn't see any weight loss for about another three weeks straight. I stayed with the program and it started coming off again!

Now, I realize it was really just my body's way of catching up with everything. Again, congrats! Hope to hear from you more on the board.

I asked my doctor yesterday about stalls and he said not to worry about them. They will happen. But that is all they are, just stalls. You will loose weight and inches as well. I am not looking forward to the stalls, but I hopefully will not get too disgusted with myself, because I know they will happen. It is my body adjusting to the weight lose.

The best exercise for discouragement is:

1. Go to a large city.

2. Find the tallest building.

3. Walk the stairs to the top.

4. Walk to the edge of the roof.

5. Throw your scale off, don't hit anyone below.

I weigh and measure myself every Monday. I record my losses in a notebook that is my food log as well. I am 9 weeks out and have had 2 weeks, one at 4 weeks and one at 8 weeks that I lost nothing, but don't get discouraged because the next weeks I lost 5 or 6 and it made up for the week that I didn't lose. I have lost 45 lbs so far and am ecstatic about my progress. I struggle with getting enough fluids and am getting much better with my Protein, it is a learning process. I am the happiest I have ever been and am SO glad I made this choice, feeling amazing! Good luck, don't psyche yourself out with the scale :)

Please try not to get discouraged!! You're doing great!! You've lost about 5 pounds per week, & that's almost a pound a day!!!

It will come, you can't fail if you follow your dr.'s orders.

Everyone is different, and everyone above has gave very good advice. Don't panic. Eat sensibly, keep a log and be aware of your sleep - get plenty of rest!

I've only lost 18 lbs in the past 8 weeks. I knew I'd lose slower cuz I started lower (slipped lapband) but it's getting ridiculous. I know I could could kick the weightloss off by doing difrferent things (working out more, cutting more calories, etc) but I don't mind losing slowly and enjoying my life while getting there. I'm no longer on a diet and enjoying that greatly.

5 lbs a week is fantastic! Can't ask for much better! The first few months and if u have a great deal of weight to lose and ull lose much faster. The closer you get to goal (it's creeping off me now) the harder it is to lose.

Good luck. Oh, and my scale calls my name out every morning. There's some that like weighing themselves everyday and some that don't. I tend to be in the former group

I'm 3 weeks and two days out and have lost 16 pounds thus far. I weighed 248 on the date of surgery. I too was concerned about my rate of loss in comparison to others, but I'm grateful that the scale is moving in the RIGHT direction, albeit slower than I'd like. You hear about the dreaded three week stall all over the place, and I figure that it'll all work itself out as long as I keep doing the right things. You got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
