Unflavored Protein Powder

Recommended Posts

Since Im a novice, I bought some soy Protein powder at Trader Joes. Tastes awful!

Are unflavored powders really "unflavored"? Which are the best that don't change the flavor of the food?

Thanks!

I have Isopure, and it is okay. I had it today in a shake with stawberries, fat free milk, and a banana. I do not think any of them are great tasting, you need to mask it by using strong flavors with it.

I order on-line with: Unjury...I mix the unflavored in all different things...it does not have a taste, but it still has that "smell"...I keep a cover on my drinks with a straw so I don't have to smell it...You can buy 1 packet for 1.99

I use Unjury too. I tried others including the trader Joes, and all I got was sick of the smell and taste. I do not taste the Unjury changed my whole Protein Powder thinking. Before I could not stomach another taste of Protein powder. Now I can not wait for my 2 Protein Drinks a day, one of which is Unjury chicken Soup. Yum.

If you are to a point where you are allowed tried unsweetened almond, coconut or soy milk changes the flavors just enough that you may enjoy.

I use the unflavored Protein whey powder from GNC, it is cheap and easy, and so far it has only seemed like adding additional milk to whatever food I "fortify". I usually add it to Greek Yogurt to get a nice single serving w/ 30 grams of Protein. You probably have a GNC near you. Plus if you don't like it they will take back the unused portion and refund your money. I always feel more comfortable if I can return a new item.

P.S. Trader Joes will refund your money on their Protein Powder too!

I like beneprotein, it's unflavored and whey Protein isolate which my NUT wants me eat/drink. I like it because it is easy to get in, and I mix it with silk light chocolate.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
