Jealous! I grew up in California, but my parents are from the south. I love southern foods but they are hard to impossible to find here. I really can't eat much of it post-op, but I love biscuits and gravy. You just can't get that once you leave the south and since I can only eat a few bites, it's not worth making it. We do have a few decent BBQ places, but can't get the sides available in the south.

I am from NY originally so I totally know what u mean about not finding the types of food u r used to. We lived in mich for many years then settled here about 15 yrs ago. My husband is a biscuit n gravy lover so I make it for him several times a month. I'm not really a fan luckily. Lol. There's plenty of other carb loaded things I am a fan of. I also love love love to bake. Was my inner aspiration to be a pastry chef. As long as I don't bake Cookies I can pretty much not partake. Lol. Or crumb cake (real crumb cake)... (Makes me drool ). Lol. I'm not a chocolate eater so when the hubs wants sweets I try to make it chocolate.< /p>

Also jealous! All those fresh veggies u can get there! Where I live there's not much. It's 60+ miles to ft worth and even farther to Dallas where most of the good places for shopping fresh are

Yeah. If your lucky someone around you has a garden. It's great to get fresh garden produce.

I often wonder if restaurants are serving ostrich eggs or something, because last I checked two scrambled eggs shouldn't take up half a dinner plate :)

Right?? I think someone with a heavy hand pours the liquid eggs and no one had ANY idea what two eggs really look like

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
