It will get better. Let your dr no about the heartburn or get something over counter. I went through the same thing. Remember to eat slowly and don't eat dry chicken and or dry foods. I thought it would never end and I also had nausea and throwing up. I finally went to the dr and I had to have another upper GI to stretch my sleeve because I couldn't eat nothing without throwing up or feeling like I was choking. Hope it gets better with you as you heal. I had my surgery Dec 2012 and feel great now. I have reached my Goal and Only 9 months out. In the beginning I regretted too, but as I healed and felt better, I would do it again. Shopping is so much fun when clothes are smaller and not plus sizes!

It sounds like you should call your surgeon so they can do an endoscopy(tube with camera down throat) and check for a stricture or some other obstruction causing the problem, if they find something a lot of times I believe they can fix them right away and make things better. Also, as was also stated above make sure you are not eating to fast. Good Luck.

i was having a lot of pain when i took my pills every morning and when i ate. so at about a month out i had ct scan done (loved that orange barium) to make sure i didn't have a leak. it was fine so the doctor prescribed Carafate to coat my stomach. i take it each morning and evening and it has helped immensely. maybe ask your doctor about that.

What size spoon are you using? I had issues with even Soup at first and switched to toddler spoons and been great since.

Thank you Slim. But question. What did the upper GI consist of??
it consist of being put to sleep, about five minutes then putting a light down my throat to look inside my tummy to see how my sleeve was healing. He inset rated an instrument to stretch my sleeve just a little, I told him not much lol, cause I didn't want room to overeat, but wide enough to keep me from throwing up. My sleeve was staple too tight!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
