One band, twiced sleeved in 4 years- crap results!

Recommended Posts

I have not seen him personally because I have an equally qualified surgeon in NYC. However, I have done extensive research on surgeons in the United States, and since you're on the west coast, Cirangle makes a more logical choice. Can you give an idea of your current weight and how much you have either gained or lost? Mostly I'm just curious to know.

Right now I am at 186.I started at 238 4 years ago with the Lapband, down to 205 and then back up to about 222-225 right before sleeve #1. then I went down to 187 with the sleeve and back up to 198-200 right before sleeve #2 just this past July. It's not like I haven't lost anything. I am grateful for the 50 pounds lost, but it's the path that I have had to take and the unexpected road blocks to true loss that has been such a downer.

BTW- Is that a photo of you? Beautiful!!!!

So sorry this is happening to you. How many calories do you eat a day? Maybe try adding 300 calories extra for 3-4 days then go back down to 800 a day. Have you tried any specific things to increase your metabolism?

You know, I don't track calories daily for a few reasons. I know that makes some people cringe, roll there eyes and think that I'm nuts for not doing it, but I have reason. Each day is totally different for me in what I can and can't eat. I don't always eat foods that are easily tracked. I cook a lot and honestly, I don't sit there and break down how much each ingredient add to the calorie count and them divide that by my portion, etc. It's not that I can't, or that I am lazy, but honestly, it would be crazy to try to figure it all out. I know what is in everything I eat. I control the fat and carbs very well. My nutritionist last year totally understood my madness about that and she agreed that it wasn't always necessary or easy for someone who doesn't eat packaged foods like the Lean Cusines or eat breads, etc. We worked on a portion system and most importantly, what exactly was the best options for me and what was satifying. Some people really need to have the nutritional breakdown that a label can give you and that is just fine if that is what works best. I'm so setteled into the foods that I rotate through, that I know how I'm doing.

I have been getting hungy the past few weeks which is signal to me that I need to eat a bit more because I'm past the post surgery shock to the system days. I bounced back super fast. Just a week and a half after surgery I took off on vacation and went kayaking, walking all over San Francisco, and doing my normal thing. I don't believe in starving my body into weight loss because it just doesn't work. I was told to not go under 1200 calories once I was back to my normal self. For some that is too many calories and some not enough. It seems to be a decent target for me. I think I am going to start a weigh training routine and that will mean I need more Protein and some extra calories. I'll have to see how that goes, but I am hopeful and excited. Ski season is coming up in just 2 1/2 months and I have a pair of new ski pants that I bought too small a few summers ago that now fit my butt quite nicely. Add some extra muscle to the legs and shed a few more pounds and I'll be looking good!

I would recommend seeking some alternative therapies that focus on helping your body fix itself. Acupuncture, supplements. I get really angry when doctors plant an idea in someone's head like your "metabolism is PERMANENTLY" screwed. That's not how the body works, that's just something they say when they don't have the answer. And I'll add, if you believe that this will never happen for you, then that's the truth. Your beliefs dictate how your body responds. I would also recommend consult some other surgeons and docs, because if yours have given up, then you need new blood looking at the situation. Good luck.

Are you tall as well? Your weight doesn't sound over the top, but starting where you did would also lead me to believe, "the smaller they are the less they fall" a little.... how about exercise? How much do you do? Is it enough or is it too much, and is that why you're body thinks you're starving? Personally, my most sincere suggestion is that you reach out to Cirangle's team. He's the surgeon, he may or may not have an intervention through surgery, but he has a crackerjack team assembled. The other thing you could do is think about reaching out to a geneticist. There may be a something at a cellular level that is being overlooked or not considered by the other members of your medical team. I really hope you find an answer, or that I had more advice to share. Good luck to you!!!!! xo!!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
