After ten months...freedom!

Recommended Posts

I can't believe it! Finally after 10 months I was discharged from nurses care. That was a long 10 months let me tell you..Now I am on my own to do what I please with no time limits...What ever will I do..LOL

Seriously though, I was wondering if I was ever going to get better...Feels kinda strange to not be around medical personal.....Hope I can handle it...who am I kidding I can definitely handle the freedom it will give me.

For once I really feel like I am finally on my journey.!!!!!

Oh my gosh why were you in nurses care for so long??

Congratulations on being freeeee!

I had a 5 month stay in hospital due to complications with the sleeve...I went septic, in a coma, lost all my hair, did not eat for 51/2 months, had 10 surgeries and had a trackia. Had to learn to walk again. Talk again, eat again. And even speak again....Got a category 5 ulcer on my ass when I was in the coma and just now it has healed enough for me to no longer need a nurse.....my journey has been a night mare...

but I would do it all again because of how I feel right now...I can stand for hours used to stand for 10 min. and the pain was so bad I would have to sit down. Migraines every day. Had trouble getting up and down stairs..Etc..you know the drill...

I am so much happier with the sleeve..It almost cost me my life but it gave me my life back.....

That is the short version...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
