KC Metro.....

Recommended Posts

There are a lot of great gastric band docs in the KC area. I've told that we have a very high percentage of band-vs-bypass compared to the rest of the country.

At Weight Loss Surgical Center, we have four staff surgeons, who are all great surgeons. We also have an amazing support staff that frees them up to do more surgeries while the support staff focuses on the long-term weight loss. We also have seven clinics in the Midwest, with two in the metro area.

If you're on the Missouri side, consider our Independence Center location, which has a very helpful staff and even has some evening and weekend hours available.

^^^To the above;

Could you give me more info about your business. I know it sounds biased, but after finding out the Weight Loss Surgical Center in Indepence was located in a mall I kind of crossed it off my list. Why did Weight Loss Surgical Center choose to open up an office in a mall?

Maybe I'm too picky, but I can't imagine going to a mall to have a surgery performed on me. Is that the case or are the surgeries performed somewhere else?

We don't do the surgeries in the mall, it's a screening and post-care fill clinic. The surgeries are all performed at our specialty bariatric hospital in Overland Park. With the band, you'll have to do a lot of follow-up for best results.

We wanted a clinic on the Missouri side where you can get follow-up care closer to home with more convenient hours, and the mall allows us flexibility to see patients some evenings and weekends.

In our Independence Center clinic, Lisa and her staff are very good at what they do, and you won't have to drive all the way to Overland Park for all the follow-up care.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
