Anti-Semitism In France!

Recommended Posts

Hello, CJ, Today's Token Christian, banded 12/14/7, down 35 lbs, etc etc etc.

I am taking this opportunity, as a Christian, to apologize to all who have been offended by Ron and his enthusiastic tirades.

My belief is that Jesus Christ came to earth as a man and interacted with whores, homosexuals, thieves, liars, morally corrupt and emotionallly damaged people from all walks of life. (Do not hear me saying in any way that I am morally superior to any of these people or anyone at all because I am a Christian!) He amazingly did this while loving and leading. If he'd had to depend on His superiority to make them feel stupid, bash their opinions and intelligence and generally dismiss them in every way they were different, Christianity would not be where it is today. It pretty much would have died on the vine 2000 years ago.

Sharing Salvation is not about "LOOK HOW RIGHT I AM, HERE IS MY PEDIGREE AND HERE"S WHAT I KNOW AND HOW IGNORANT ARE YOU FOR NOT BELIEVING WHAT I BELIEVE." It is about accepting people, as Jesus did, right where they are, here and now, and living your life in a way that they want what you have and want to know how you have it. Things shoved down the throat are usually violently regurgitated.

"Love thy neighbor as thyself" does not have a "but" or "except" after it.

LOVE EVERYBODY! Thanks to all who shared their views and opinions, even Ron.

CJ

How dare you?

By the way, does anyone else think it is sort of funny that Ron is lumping the Catholic Church in with the "liberal denominations" (AKA, the ones who are all going to hell, according to him)? I have never heard ANYONE claim that the Catholic Church was liberal before.

For someone who claims to know the Bible intimately, those statements show you don't have a clue.

And that is more akin to socialism than capitalism. IMHO, Jesus was anti-capitalism. Look at his contact with the money lenders just before his execution. How about the Biblical statement about the difficulty of a rich man entering the "Kingdom of Heaven"?

Thanks Laurend---Do you have any idea how long it took me to read this thread? I am supposed to be studying-SHAME ON ME!

You guys have some great view points. I think I remember a beginning thread where you said you walked (ran?) away from "the church" at age 18? I totally related to that! I RAN away too! Funny how when you get a mind of your own you start to see things differently??

Thanks for the welcome!

CJ

I think he means as opposed to Fundamentalists.

I have a friend who belongs to a very, very conservative Southern Baptist congregation. Nonetheless, a group of her fellow church members broke away and started their own "non-denominational" church because they thought the Baptists were too liberal.

Everything is relative to something else.

You can all think what you want! It's a free country and God gave us a free will for which we will all have to answer for someday. You are in for a rude awakening!

It is interesting to note that those mocking the authority of the literal, infallible scriptures, and me personally, are athiests, ultra liberals, liberal Christians which does include Catholics, and an old man who is a socialist/Communist, hates the government and country he lives in and worships a God of his own imagining that is admittedly imperfect and fallible. Why should I be suprised! In fact, this raging is exactly what the vWord of God describes in the first verse of the 22nd Psalm.

Jesus said we shouldn't be surprised if "the world hates us for His names sake, because the world first hated Him"! You all just prove Him and the scriptures to be 100% correct, literal and true!

Still waiting for an answer to my questions....

So....you're saying that for the more than 50 years this woman taught, her church elders, various pastors, etc were ALL in error? And for all that time, they were misinterpreting the scriptures, yes? How is that possible, since the dogma of the church did NOT change during that time. And still remains unchanged in most Baptist churches across America.

How do you KNOW this one scripture should be taken "literally", but many others (like the one that says women must cover their heads to pray) need NOT be? How, exactly, is that distinction "clear" to you?

You remember correctly. Religion is just one of those things where belief doesn't make sense to me. I can understand and support other people believing in it, but it never sat (set? hmmm) right with me. Other people would talk about "the space that religion fills" or "feeling like a part of you is missing", and I never got that. I don't have any empty spaces or feel incomplete. To me, modern religion is about as believable as the Greek or Egyptian mythologies. It's a great story, but to base your whole existance on it? Other people may be able to do that (and I support their choice whole-heartedly), but I can't. Literally, "can't," not "won't."

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
