Anti-Semitism In France!

Recommended Posts

A number of posts ago it was sugested that the term Liberal and the terms communism and socialist were interchangeable. Communism and a socialism are economic systems not political philosophies so it is quite possible to be a conservative communist.

Democracy is a type of political system as is a dictatorship. So it is also possible to live in a Liberal, socialist democracy, many Americans would view Canada as such.

Also when someone states that there has never been a succesfull example of socialism or communism you are mistaken. China is very succesful and considerred to be a society based on a communist system. I am certain that many will say that China is not a true communist country and my response is that the many would also argue that the United States is not a true democracy only proving that it is impossble to find a true anything.

So stop saying that socialists and liberals are the same thing. I am a Liberal and a socialist who believes in democracy.

So, for an answer on the socialism question you must look to Russia according to Cusano. Well, this is a comment from an individual who is apparently lacking basic information on history and economic thought. What was practiced in the USSR was Communism under a series of cruel and often incompetant totalitarian regimes. Moreover, this system was transposed on a third-world country which up to that point had a feudal system of illiterate peasant serfs and often barely literate landowners.

Many, many sucessful democratic economies practice a modified form of socialism, a fusion of capitalism and socialism. In so doing these countries seek to control the damage that unharnessed capitalism can wreck on the middle and lower classes and yet, by controlling socialism too, encourage the creativity and the business acumen of the citizens. You may wish to examine the countries which comprise the European Common Market, Cusano, and Canada, the Scandinavian countries, Australia, and New Zealand.

You really should not argue with me because my logic is flawless and irrefutable.

Recently I was called upon to help the world renowned expert in the science of addiction, Dr. Albert Watson, to solve a problem that had been baffling medical science for centuries.

It seems that during a double blind study, many of participants had had the same unexplained results.

On Monday, the subjects drank scotch and Water and then had a hangover on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the subjects drank gin and water and then had a hangover on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the subjects drank vodka and water and then had a hangover on Thursday.

On Thursday, the subjects drank bourbon and water and then had a hangover on Friday.

This ended the study for the week.

On Friday, though the subjects were not required to take part in the study, they, at their own expense drank either scotch, gin, vodka or bourbon and of course water and then all had hangovers on Saturday.

I explained the answer to the unexpected results from study to the scientist's problem thusly: “Elementary Dr. Watson; it seems that water is both highly addictive and causes a hangover in many people due to their genes”.

There was also another incident recently which proves my prowess at deciphering obscure scientific truths. When I moved to Florida 3.5 years ago, I started sprinkling table salt all around the perimeter of my home's property. I have done this once a month since moving here. After about 5 months my next door neighbor asked me why he saw me walking my property line every month sprinkling some white powder by hand. I explained that first of all, it is not a powder, but table salt and I do it to keep elephants away. I explained that elephants can do enormous damage to lawns, tree and even structures. He burst out laughing until I asked him, “Have you seen an elephant on my property since I moved here?

He was taken aback but had to admit the truth of my statement (which was actually a question, but many people do confuse questions for statements) and he started spreading salt with to me every month. When he sold his house about a year later, he told the new owner who has also joined me every month in our salt spreading chores.

But here's the kicker, one day about a 5 months ago, an alligator was on my neighbors lawn (in the rear of the house, facing the canal). He was horrified because that was the first time a 'gator came out of the canal close to his property. He has 4 year old and 9 year old daughter, and was so scared that he said he was going to put up a fence, like the one I have behind my home, facing the canal.

I told him that he could save his money. It seems that I have been using Morton's salt to keep the elephants away while my neighbor had been using the generic salt that Wal-Mart sells. “See,” I said, “all you have to do is to switch to Morton Salt, like I use, and you will not have 'gator problems. Have you seen a 'gator on my property?” He had to admit I was right, so he convinced his 6 month pregnant wife to buy Morton salt the next time she went grocery shopping. His children have still been playing in their yard, his new child has been born and everyone is safe because of my infallible logic.

So stop debating with me. You can not win.

You've said that Jesus didn't really mean us to eat his body and drink his blood. But those are the words the Bible uses.

A command that my church takes "literally", so I guess you see "clear indication" that it should not be....never mind that the Catholic Church is about 2000 years older than you, with a staggering accumulation of history and knowledge at its disposal.

Anglicans also believe in the transubstantiation, as does the Orthodox church.

TOM: Regarding your graph, it is easy to see that you are right.

The reason I have a problem with Ron trying to convert and spread his own word the way he does is not because he is telling people about his brand of Christianity or even that he is trying to tell them his way is the only way to interpret the Bible. Nor do I have no problem with him trying to mission for Jesus.

I have a major problem with his disrespect for others and his claim that he has proof that he is 100% correct. I have a problem with Christians who have decided that they are the ONLY ones who are able to read and know the Bible with any accuracy and that everyone else is to be scorned because they are inferior and going to hell.

I have a problem with Ron because he constantly uses phrases to belittle others and put them down. He says flatly that "YOU ARE WRONG" and similar phrases that declare that everyone who disagrees with him is not necessarily wrong in Ron's eyes, but that they are wrong in GOD'S eyes. And he is emphatically stubborn on the issue of how wrong we are. There is absolutely no discussion on the subject of whether we are right or wrong, or maybe even have a point. It is that he claims that GOD says that we are wrong - Crusano doesn't. And furthermore, if we have a problem with it, then "TAKE IT UP WITH GOD!"

You can't debate or even discuss something with someone who has no respect for other viewpoints or interpretations. Someone who is so totally small minded that he or she shows not one iota of respect for fellow Christians speaks volumes about who they are.

NO, NO, NO, TOM.....it's not the brand of salt, it's HOW you sprinkle it.

I have used both generic and name brand salt for years on my lawn and have had absolutely no problem with either elephants or alligators. But I am careful to ALWAYS sprinkle it by the light of a full moon, wearing a pink tutu.

Carlene: You make light of the salt on the yard issue, but I've lived in Florida and it does indeed keep away the slugs. That it also keeps away the elephants and 'gators is incidental. Slugs are regularly more damaging to the plants then those darned elephants and alligators.

Many people confuse the political system names with economic terms.

No country has ever really tried Communism (as written about by the people who originated it) because as I said in an example earlier, If Cuba was a Communist country, the janitor who cleans Fidel Castro's toilet would make as much money as Fidel Castro makes. In fact he might make more money if he was young and raising a family, because “to each according to his needs” is one of the tenants of Communism.

I have read the Communist Manifesto from cover to cover, and no country has ever actually implemented it, thought many have held out the goal of economic equality to the poor of their country in order to take power.

The closest thing we have to Communist today is probably Kuwait (the country that we freed from the grip of Saddam Hussein), because all Kuwaiti born citizens get a share of the oil revenues and none of them have to work. They bring in servants from other countries to do all the work.

So when George H. W. Bush said in defense of the USA's involvement of “Gulf War One”, "This is not about oil. It is about Democracy", I would say that there was a little spin or an outright lie being told.

I also wear the TuTu while sprinkling my "Windsor" salt (Works not only for Elephants and Aligators it also keeps Rattle snakes away) but because it is so large I refer to it as a FourFour.

Cheers

But the dogs make good alligator food. I keep a color made of salt on Rocky.

By the way, Lot's wife could come in handy. Does anyony know exactly where they buried her.

Did you know that coffee is lethal to slugs? And the grounds are good for your plants, too.

I seem to remember her saying we were all at fault, which includes me. I also owned up to it and apoligized for it. I don't recall anyone else doing so, unless i happened to miss the posts!
Ron, damn it, you even responded to my post where I did own up to it.

Hello, CJ, Today's Token Christian, banded 12/14/7, down 35 lbs, etc etc etc.

I am taking this opportunity, as a Christian, to apologize to all who have been offended by Ron and his enthusiastic tirades.

My belief is that Jesus Christ came to earth as a man and interacted with whores, homosexuals, thieves, liars, morally corrupt and emotionallly damaged people from all walks of life. (Do not hear me saying in any way that I am morally superior to any of these people or anyone at all because I am a Christian!) He amazingly did this while loving and leading. If he'd had to depend on His superiority to make them feel stupid, bash their opinions and intelligence and generally dismiss them in every way they were different, Christianity would not be where it is today. It pretty much would have died on the vine 2000 years ago.

Sharing Salvation is not about "LOOK HOW RIGHT I AM, HERE IS MY PEDIGREE AND HERE"S WHAT I KNOW AND HOW IGNORANT ARE YOU FOR NOT BELIEVING WHAT I BELIEVE." It is about accepting people, as Jesus did, right where they are, here and now, and living your life in a way that they want what you have and want to know how you have it. Things shoved down the throat are usually violently regurgitated.

"Love thy neighbor as thyself" does not have a "but" or "except" after it.

LOVE EVERYBODY! Thanks to all who shared their views and opinions, even Ron.

CJ

PS: Wheetsin-I am taking the liberty of playing off of your name. You are a very intelligent and vibrant lady and I think you're great! I applaud your consistenly quick wit and humor!

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
