Anti-Semitism In France!

Recommended Posts

I thought the format on this board was to argue and discuss! So are you saying that if we disagree with someone, we shouldn't argue the point. I respect everyone right to have their own opinion, but does that preclude arguing against it. I think everyone might be happy if I just agreed with their view points, right!! Give me a break! You consider that being a bully?

No, I considered that the manner in which you answered ousooner, by putting apostrophes around the word Christian when you applied to the title to him, as being very disrespectful for this implies that you feel that his Christianity is in doubt. This was a low blow indeed! And certainly it is not up to you to judge the relationship that a fellow Christian has with his God.

A more reasonable, less bullying fellow would have said that he couldn't agree on the point which was under discussion and then he would provide his reasons in a measured voice.

Still wondering what "you are your shadow" means, Ron Cusano.
I'm not sure, but I think he means "you and your shadow". As in, he thinks I am your little tagalong. He apparently doesn't understand how two people can actually stick up for each other.

ETA: Removed a statement that I think may have been a little too strong. I don't want to sink to that level.

ETA #2: Apparently, I can't spell this morning.

At this point, Ron is simply blustering. I think that in real life, he has never encountered people that challenged what he said. I think they thought that since he knew so much about the Bible (which is debatable), everything else he said had to be true, also. Here, he's encountered people that, put simply, know more than he does and aren't afraid to challenge his statements. Since we aren't standing in awe of his knowledge, we're somehow attacking his Christianity.

He's a strange cat. I've never met anyone quite like him in my real life. Have any of you?:)

Ah, that could be. I do tend to read literally (to avoid reading subjectively, as much as possible), so I can see how that would be possible. Darnit, Laurend, I've told you to stop calling me and trying to plan out our posts. What the heck is up with this "mind of your own" stuff, anyway?

Your garbage isn't even worth a comment. You are just pitiful!

So you find it difficult to function. Is that how you're explaining your own wrongs? So rather than "I'm wrong", it's "I can't function because there are atheists and heathens here"?

No, I'm not twisting what you're saying, I'm asking. And if that's wrong, please clarify.

So now I tell lies from the pit of hell? What exactly does that mean? Are those like -- uber lies? Am I being influenced by Satan?

And you probably aren't going to believe this anyway, but what you consider "digs" I consider - showing how predictable you are. When we respond (in a way other than what you'd prefer) to our comments, it's happening because Jesus prophesized it. When ou're backed into a corner, all of a sudden we're attacking your faith. It's been that wa since... oh, probably page 3 or 4 of this thread.. but I'd have to go back and check to be sure. It's simply a matter of making a much better window than a door.

I've met people that I think could be future-Rons. Does that count? My first semester teaching, the class I was assisting in was a biology class for education majors. I have never seen such a close-minded group in my life. There were a couple of ring-leaders that were absolutely frustrating. We'd tell them how evolutionary theory was supported, and they would just say, "Nope, don't believe you. So-and-so wrote a book that says otherwise." I just wanted to yell at them, "So-and-so didn't know what he was talking about. Everything you've said is COMPLETELY WRONG! I'm not going to discuss this with you until you've got a legitimate argument, because all the objections to the theory that you've come up with are explainable when you know even a tad about evolution, biology, geology, etc."

It was mind-boggling to realize that they were going to become public school teachers and that they were going to have to teach the theory, especially since they probably weren't even going to teach it correctly, anyway.

Personally, I like watching Ron go:boom:. It's fun.

You are the one who is so impressed with herself. I don't mind being challanged if we are talking about real issues. You love to make a big deal about nothing. It seem to give you some meaning in you life I guess! You find my knowledge of the Bible "debatable" but I don't see you finding anything specific to point out?

You don't mind being challenged? Right, I guess we all just imagined the past 103 pages of this thread. You are starting to sound like, "I'm rubber, you're glue. Anything you say bounces off me and sticks to you!" Grow up a little, Ron. It's sad when someone a fraction of your age is more mature than you. I find your knowledge of the Bible debatable because you have been wrong about everything else that you've talked about with the same seeming "authority". I think it's pretty common-sense to think that maybe you really don't know as much as you think you do.

And by the way? I'm not impressed with myself. I know my limitations, and I abide by them. I know that I don't know everything.

Ron, I disagree with Laurend you seem to have a very strong knowleged of the bible. As matter of fact you seem to have most of it memorized or in the very least you know it well enough to find the verse that backs up your position. If you only had some capacity for abstract thought you could then take that knowlegde and use it to come to some thought provoking ideas. Ron you are not an idea man, you are capable of reading the bible but unable to intepret it's words, it seems that you are able to understand the words literally.

Abstract thinking is not your strong suit, that has been verified on this thread over and over again. You may want to stick to threads that are not in the Rant and Rave section. Many of the the folks who post in here love the debate and are very good abstract thinkers. They are also very well read and highly intelligent (believe me I do not put myself in that category, but I enjoy reading the posts) someone with your literal style and limited capacity for abstract thought can become painfully exposed here.

I also try to add a little humour now and then

Sounds like we finally may get some school teachers that didn't graduate from Secular-Humanist U! Sounds like they knew what they were talking about!

TommyO, I have no doubt he knows the scripture in the Bible, that wasn't what I meant by saying his knowledge was debatable. I was referring to the way he interprets those scriptures and his knowledge of the actual message. He is absolutely 100% sure he is right, and he won't even contemplate the possibility that he either might be incorrect or misinterpreting. I think you and I agree on the topic, actually. Instead of considering other people's positions, he basically cries, "La-la-la, I can't hear you!"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
