FromFlabToFab 268 Posted September 9, 2013 Does anyone else feel like they have on a fat version of beer goggles? When I look in the mirror I still see 60 pounds more than where I'm at. When I see others pictures that are my weight and even 20-30 pounds more I think "omg she looks so little and cute" and when I see that their weights are similar, I just don't see "that" when I look in the mirror. I know everyone's built differently and lose different, I'm not saying exactly, but just remotely. Also when someone of normal bmi states they want to lose 10-15 more pounds I wonder to myself "from where, there's no place left to lose that amount from, you look great now". I'm 5 pounds under my original modest goal and now I want 10 more gone, and once I get to 10 I'll want another 5, and after that maybe 3 more...etc. I wasn't even sure I'd want to lose down to my original goal of 150, I thought I'd look too small (from what I've become accustomed to looking at for the last 13+ years), I honestly thought I'd be happiest at 170-180. Which is kinda funny cuz when I look in the mirror I still see me at 200, so my wanting 10-15 more makes me feel I might look like I think I would at my "happy" weight. I think it's cuz I'm a skinny fat person now (from the looser skin and initial muscle loss) instead of the once plump filled out fat fat person. I've heard people say it takes time for our minds to catch up with our bodies, but damn I'm almost a year out, how long are we talkin here. I don't wanna lose more than looks natural on me to the outside world but still see an obese BMI body in my inside world.
LouiseC 1,031 Posted September 9, 2013 I found http://www.mybodygallery.com/index.html really helped me to get a sense of what I look like. It has save me asking my stand " am I bigger or smaller than her" question about random women! 1 FromFlabToFab reacted to this
Arts137 1,811 Posted September 9, 2013 Yeah, having these strange self views are common. I've lost 90 pounds and I look the same (to me). Strange. You can set and meet your own goals. Of course watch ourt for eating disorders... you don't want that! 1 FromFlabToFab reacted to this
ShayLeigh 62 Posted September 9, 2013 This is something I have been struggling with as well. Thanks for the post and reminding me I am not alone in this journey! 1 FromFlabToFab reacted to this
