Just beginning and scared!

Recommended Posts

I have attended the seminar and have had my psych eval done. Have my first visit with the nurse at Transformations in Flowood, MS next week. I go from being scared to death to excited and back to scared again. Anyone want to share how they got over the roller coaster of emotions?

For me, I think it was just time. I started this journey on Aug. 20 of this year. I was overwhelmed, anxious, excited. Then I got worried that I couldn't do everything. Then I had thoughts that I'd do all the work and get rejected by the hospital staff. You are doing the right thing. You are posting.

This is a super fab site. Post anything that you need/want to. The people here are great. Haven't had a negative comment here yet, just nice, helpful people.

Today, I feel calm. I understand all that was explained to me. I'm doing the best that I can. And, whatever happens will just happen, and I will handle it.

And, yes, I keep posting.

I'm so happy for you.

When I started this journey a year ago I was quite nervous. I started reading everything I could get my hands on about the sleeve and. WLS surgery. Here is a thread where several of us reviewed our favorite books.

Good reads thread

Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

I also just started my journey August this year and I've been so excited and have not been able to calm down since. I 'm just afraid that something will get in the way of me having the surgery. A couple of years ago I was in the process of getting the surgery, I did the psych eval met with the dietician and nurse, I was in the beginning phases but I was on my way, then I lost my job and health insurance and it was all gone just as quick as it came, I was devastated. So now my only fear is that something will get in the way and it will all be snatched away from me again. And just like Martha I also have worries that I'd do all the work and get rejected by the hospital staff for one reason or the other.

I've been paying more attention to them when I go to Wal-Mart and CVS trying to get a general idea of how much they cost, but no I haven't actually bought any. I told myself I'll start on them during the pre liquid diet, but I think we have to do that anyway. What I'm tying to do now is cut out sweet tea!

This is gonna sound like a silly question but, I keep seeing everyone talk about NUT, I've been trying to figure out what the abbreviation means and am I required to do it or maybe I've already done it idk.

Premier Protein ready made shakes seem to be a hit with a lot of people. They are relatively inexpensive (compared to others) and they have 30 grams of Protein. You can get them at BJ's. good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
