Cant drink water?!?!?!

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 days postop and finding that Water actually hurts going down. Anything else is fine, G2, crystal light, lifewater, anything but Water. This is horrible for me, preop I would on a normal day drink almost 2 GALLONS of water! I never cared for any other beverages much. Does this get better or am I going to just have to get used to the taste of artificial sweetener long term now?

Missing my H20.... :(

This is normal, no worries!! I was grieving the loss of Water myself...but that comes back (for me and my surgery buddy) inside the first two months....about 3-4 weeks. Hang in there!

It's due to plain Water having more surface tension. It will improve!

I couldn't do plain Water early on either, now I drink several bottles in a day in addition to other things.

For early on I drink lemon or line Water and it went down just fine, no issues at all like the plain water. Also it's a little pricey but try smart water it has electrolytes in it and its "lighter" was easier for me.

Good luck!

I've heard A LOT of people say that, so I'm sure it's perfectly normal. I was the opposite, and the taste of anything but Water made me sick--so I thought there was something wrong with me! But after a bit, it all got back to normal. Tastes and smells I couldn't tolerate post-op are all fine, now. You'll be back on your H20 in no time! Just stick with the other things for now, to be sure you're getting enough fluids. :)

Thanks for the reassurance everyone! Looking forward to drinking it again soon. The good news is that as of this am I'm down 21lbs. Since the start of my preop diet on 8/22!
