What are some of your non-scale victories? I had my surgery July 26th. So far I've lost 34 lbs but there's other achievements that I see that help me on the days the scales aren't going down. I've gone down a pant size and anywhere from 1 to 3 shirt sizes. I'm starting to see an increase in my energy level. My thighs aren't rubbing together when I walk and I can tell that I walk differently now. I climbed two flights of stairs earlier this week and could still breathe when I got to the top!. Lol

I was working in my niece's yard the other day with my shirt off in the hot Florida sun. My wife, sister-in-law, and my niece walked by.

My wife whistled and my niece said, "Hey yard boy, you want to rub tanning lotion on my back?"

I said, "That's how Deb got me!".

They all laughed.

I felt like Matthew McConaughey for a minute. B)

I had 2 in one day! Yesterday I was standing in front of my gym waiting for my trainer & a truck with two guys drove by. They whistled & made kissy noises. Normally I would be disgusted but I burst out laughing when I realized they were doing it to ME!

2nd NSV was while I was working out - I had my hands on my hips and realized I could feel the bones without even digging my fingers in!! OMG, I HAVE HIPBONES!! Who knew?

NSV's 10 days out...my clothes are already falling off, I went to wawa and didn't get a soft pretzel (my favorite), most importantly? My dad said he wouldn't let me fail and he can already see changes in my body.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
