Eggs Protein Source *sigh* no more - Atlantic Cod Recipe suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I used to love eggs! Now I can't stand the taste of them! I thought I'd try some the other day and couldn't stand the taste then. So I waited again today and thought mmmm maybe with some cheese! Still a no go! I'm on pureed foods but this was one that I could have that wouldn't be pureed. Oh well - eggs off the list!

I have been making a pureed chicken salad and it is such a hit in my house I am lucky to get any!

Tomorrow I will try Atlantic Cod. Does anyone have any recipe suggestions? No one likes this so it could be all mine! lol

Care to share your chicken salad recipe? They want me back on pureed foods for awhile......and for that one week of pureed, I kept it simple...and boring LOL [sorry I don't have a recipe to share].......have you gone to The World According to Egg Face?

Here's her pureed suggestions (and no, they aren't all eggs LOL)

Hi Patty:

This is terrible because I don't have an actual recipe BUT I can tell you the ingredients I use! I puree canned chicken with a little onion, maybe a 1/4 tsp of lemon juice, 3 tbsp of non-fat mayo then I cut about 2 celery chunky - I don't puree that because it doesn't seem right. I just chew chew chew the little chunks or avoid them. Salt and pepper to taste. I stuff it into a Tomato just to flatter myself! lol Plus at work since I didn't tell anyone it looks like I'm eating a lot more than what I really am!

Good luck!

Debbie

Hi you can find it in my response to Patty! Enjoy! I just made more yesterday and did not get any because my family eats before I do! Lol!

Today I made puréed broccoli, cauliflower, and low fat cheese! That was delicious too!

Periodically try foods like eggs again, because your tolerance may change over time. Mine has.

I prepare my Cod on a baking sheet with a pam spray to it first. Then I add some fresh lemon slices, salt, pepper and I bake it for about 15 to 20 minutes on 300 degrees. It is so yummy!!

I take a frozen piece of cod to work in a rubbermaid container. I pour a little line of olive oil down the middle of it and then sprinkle it with lemon pepper. By the time I have lunch the lemony part of the lemon pepper is melted into the oil. Its really good. I microwave it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
