Whats the best way to research your surgeon?

Besides just asking him questions... is there a good internet site for doing so?

I would like to know too please :). For some reason when I google my doctor and try to read the ratings the page kicks me out as if they did that on purpose. I went to vitals.com and that's where they kicked me out trying to read them...

I would have thought Google is the best start, I don't know why that website is not allowing you access - might need to login or create an account or something. With the availability of information these days it should not be difficult to find if there were scary or great reviews. I also personally look for a public persona. If a doctor has a Facebook page with lots of subscribers that allows people to freely comment is a good sign. This forum is also a great source. Send messages to people and ask them about their experiences. But you cannot beat a good few hours of just entering the doctors name in various search engines and putting the time in to study up on all entries you find. If you're thinking of Mexico, then go to Yahoo Mexico and punch in the name and see what you get. But seeing that the majority of Mexico patients are from outside Mexico you should be able to find most of what you need on Google or Yahoo. As for me, I changed my mind several times until i decided upon the one I wanted. I chose my surgeon for reasons that appealed to me and that is what you have to do. Good luck !!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
