What is your type

Recommended Posts

I just recently found out that I have a 10cc band. I didn't know that there was a few different types of bands. Friday I had my 3rd fill and I have 50 percent evaporation. Now instead of 6 weeks I need to go in 3 weeks for my 4th fill I will then find out if there is more evaporation, if there is I need some kind of x-ray not to sure what it is(?) has anyone ever have this problem? explain what they did and what are the different size bands and why? thanks alyssa

My dr.told my evaporation is expected, he never went into details about how much is expected but not to be shocked when it happens. He also said that if your band had a leak it would empty to zero.

Can't speak to evaporation because AFAIK never had it, but:

what are the different size bands and why?
Why first. Because organs are different shapes and sizes, and what fits me may not fit you. Just like bracelets come in different sizes to fit around our wrists, so bands come in different sizes to fit around our esophagae. The surgeon will select the band that fits your organ the best, which is why most of the time they can't tell you in advance which band you will receive (if they use multiple sizes). Some surgeons only use one size. Some prefer, say, the 4cc to the 10cc because it takes less time to reach restriction, while some may prefer the 10cc because you have more room for fine tuning, while others prefer the 4cc because they feel the single pillow makes fine tuning easier to achieve than the multiple pillows which could hold uneven amounts of Fluid.

BioEnterics bands:

9.75cm/4cc

10cm/4cc

14cm/10cc

There are other bands out there, but I'm not sure about their capacity/length.

I had .5cc evaporate. My doctor put in a syrum that is like fixing a flat tire. He said it always works. Ask your doctor about it. That may be what you need. I have a 10cc band that holds 4.2ccs.

Good luck.

also, the diff too according to my doc, not only the size of organs but how much fatty tissue is on the stomach. My surgeon told me he had to use the 10cm with 4cc because of all the fat on my stomach.

Currently have 1.5 cc in my 10cm band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
