so i went to support last night and was telling my fellow bariatric surgery people how i'm on the three week pre-op diet. i was talking about how sometimes i have to choke down a shake because i can't finish it. someone suggested drinking Isopure instead of a Protein Shake because it's "like gatorade". would this replace a meal? i don't know much about isopure so i'm curious to try it. i am going to email my NUT about it too. just curious! thanks!

My nurse told me they tasted like Jolly Ranchers. So I invested over $50 in a case of them from GNC.com. They taste nasty. Worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. Hubby likened them to bad meat juice.

Just buy 1 and taste it to see if u like it. You can get them at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. They're expensive.

I have the Isopure unflavored powder 30 grams of Protein that I mix with G2, put in applesauce and yogurt oatmeal anything im allowed to eat, I have vanilla that i mix with skim milk I will add a banana or a sugar free choc pudding. I like the powders much better and not near as costly.

Can you mix them with Water?

I mixed them 50/50 with water, G2, or Hint essence water. Just on their own they are too hideous. Obviously you won't get quite the Protein bang for your buck if you dilute them, but I figured it's better than no protein at all.

I bought one bottle to try, took once sip and dumped it out. But some people say they are good. So for sure buy just one to try first. Maybe it's an acquired taste, lol!

i just tried the apple melon one and i didn't think it was that bad. i'll try the blue raspberry tomorrow. they're definitely pricey, but i didn't mind the one i had. so, that's good. it's nice to not have that creamy/milky consistency of the Protein Shake. i was getting sick of it!

yeah the after taste was sort of gross but it was the typical Protein aftertaste that I feel all the products have.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
