PinkBubble 5 Posted September 5, 2013 I have a tentative surgery date set for October 23rd. Typically in the past whenever I've had surgery I have had a really bad reaction to the pain meds which causes some horrendous nausea the next day. They will usually not allow me to have any liquids for several hours to the next day because they don't want me to vomit. The thirst is awful. And I don't get any pain meds because the nausea is so bad. Has anybody had an easy time?
MIJourney 490 Posted September 5, 2013 Sorry about your reactions. I was given liquid anti-nausea meds before they wheeled me into surgery. Was not the best tasting and then given more anti-nausea in my IV after surgery. Did not have a problem with nausea at all. They did use a different pain med for me as the one they usually use as I had been given it before and had wierd hallucinations from it. 1 PinkBubble reacted to this
Macy6 356 Posted September 5, 2013 Hopefully they already know but if not definitely let it known. They had me very well medicated. I came in with an ear patch from the night before and wore that 3 days. I took Emend, a very strong anti emetic usually reserved for those on chemo etc...3 hrs before surgery and again when I got Into pre op what was supposed to be 1 hour before survey and took 3 with hold ups. They kept Zofran going every 4-6 hours and I was sent home with Zofran and I haven't been nauseated once. 1 PinkBubble reacted to this

drydzynski 35 Posted September 7, 2013 You will meet your anesthesiologist before you go into surgery, make sure you tell them you get nauseas very easy. I did and she gave me a patch behind my ear before I went into surgery and she also said she would use everything she had back there to keep the nausea away and she did! I usually have nausea with pain meds too but I was given dilauded and didn't have any nausea with that. 1 PinkBubble reacted to this
