I had heard about the third week stall

Recommended Posts

But damn I didn't know how much it SUCKS! I'm only 3 weeks out. I lost 10 my first week, 2 my second week and none this week. I only weigh in on Wednesdays. I'm trying really hard to stay positive. I'm scared that this isn't going to work for me, or that I'm going to be a slow loser. How can I lose 85% of my stomach and eat nothing but puréed food, yogurt and liquids and not lose weight. I feel like the whole "your body is in starvation mode" or "new muscle weighs more than fat" is one of those things I used to tell myself in my old dieting days to make myself feel better. I'm also on my period so I've been using the "I must have Water weight" theory too. But at 800-1000 calories/day how can this be? So frustrated.

There are tons of posts on this you should search and some very good explanations of why it occurs. Be strong! I'm with you (sleeved 8/12) and we'll make it through. You can do it :)

The best thing to do is get used to them. It won't be the last.

I really don't pay attention to them now.

I know the scale will move down again sooner or later :)

You are not alone. I am exactly two weeks post op today and have only lost 11 pounds. The scale has not moved in six or seven days. I work out daily and try and get Protein and my Water in. I see people who lose a minimum of 21 pounds their first two weeks. It's so freakin frustrating. All I think everyday is I am going to be that one person who doesn't succeed with the sleeve!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
