Baristaboy75 1 Posted September 4, 2013 So my first post got so many interesting answers that I couldn't wait to post again!!!! So I have a question for those of you who have been sleeved and have gotten to the point that you are eating solids again. I have heard from many that your taste for certain foods changes. Some things that you may not have liked before you may like now. I am sure this question has been asked before but... does anyone want to share their experience if this has happened? And if it has what foods did you find you liked more or liked less than before? Can't wait to hear the responses!
Allan Cameron 98 Posted September 4, 2013 Your tastes are going to go thru cycles, and not just once, but many times. I try foods sometimes weekly, and some times my tastes will change that quickly (though not too often). I haven't found too many foods I didn't like that I now like (then again I don't usually try foods I didn't like before) but I've had foods I like, go onto the not so much list. Even chocolate, especially chocolate Protein Shakes have move into my not so great catagory. eggs have been off the menu but are back on now... Couldn't eat chicken for a time, but tried it again last week and my sleeve didn't have a negative reaction, and it tasted just fine. Sometimes the taste is now great, and sometimes my sleeve tells me not to eat that again (or else). 1 MWilliams42 reacted to this
RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted September 4, 2013 I eat fish and fish and more fish..Does not matter what kind...I try it...the only fish so far I can't tolerate is canned tuna...Sticks in my throat.. I have lost interest in so many foods...corn for one, beef, pork, even bacon is difficult for me to eat.....I tried olives the other night and spit them out...I used to love olives...green ones...as the black ones always tasted like dirt to me... I have tried a lot of new foods that I would never have eaten before like sardines....clams....etc..
PrettyLilButterfly 124 Posted September 4, 2013 The first 3 months after surgery nothing tasted right (probably due to anesthesia according to my doc). Now, I can eat anything, I can't pinpoint anything that tastes odd/off. Granted I wish some things did! haha.. I've heard our taste buds change every 7 years, wonder if some of our surgeries fall under that 7th year! The only issue I've had since surgery that still seems to linger is my tolerance for dairy I was sleeved in December and just had my first small glass of milk last week. I was able to tolerate it but it's not something I can do often. My doc said alot of sleevers tend to become lactose intolerant (good at keeping me off sneaky foods like ice cream, but MILK? sad)
