Celieac sleevers... A year + post sleeve

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved May 2012 and am now going for celiac testing. I have had the signs for years (but liked my food way to much to give it up then:( but since being sleeved my symptoms have gotten way way worse ( losing enamel on my teeth, ibs, bloating, high blood sugars, high cholesterol and of course inability to lose any more weight). I tried going glueten free about 6 yrs ago when there were fewer choices, so it didn't last long.

Anyone have advice or tips on what is best to eat to get the most out of nutrition.

I have reached my goal size and just had plastics done, so I'm not worried about losing much more than 10lbs. But need to find ways to eat to bring my sugars and cholesterol down but not feel completely deprived. Lol.

Hi Michelle :)

I was diagnosed with Celiac's Disease 10 months ago and have been gluten-free since the day I had a confirmed diagnosis. I am not sleeved yet (hope to be on October 8th). I am hoping my journey is a little easier since I already don't eat carbs. I never searched for gluten-free replacement foods. I just eat naturally gluten-free (meats/fruits/veggies/dairy). I thought this was nature's way of telling me I needed a diet. To my surprise, I only lost 16 pounds in 9 months going gluten-free. This has lead me to the sleeve.

I know this is not exactly what you have asked, but......If you are anything like me, I get so sick from the tiniest bit of gluten (even my medication has to be gluten-free). Deprived and resentful is exactly how I felt for a good three months after going gluten-free. I am still a little ticked off about the whole thing. Although now I am thinking this might just have been my preparation for the sleeve. I had to say good-bye to all my food friends last year.

I wish you luck.

Eating gluten free and eating tasty, hydrating, nutritious food is not too hard to do.

Consider the 80/10/10. I am 20 months out and almost totally raw foods. I don't follow the 80/10/10 but I eat the '5 colors' of veggies, minimal but necessary animal protien, no grains, no refined sugars.

There is a fantastic book on Amazon called 'The Paleo Primer' by Keris Marsden. They have taken the UK by storm, their food is healthy, nutritious and gluten/wheat free.. recipes are so easy to follow and can easily be adapted to weightloss or maintenance. Highly recommend!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
