the swelling will resolve in a few weeks. Sometimes numbness can persist. Depends on a lot of things, mainly what was disrupted during the surgery.

I had my lbl and plastics just over 5 weeks ago as well. And I have also had 3 c-sections and a few other medical surgeries.... Yes the numbness and swelling will subside. After my 3rd c-section I did have some numbness that stayed in spots but you do get used to it and it won't bother you. With my other 2 c-sections it did take a few months for the feeling to come back.

As far as the swelling goes I have read that some people's swelling can last up to 6 months or more. My swelling comes and goes depending how much I move around in a day. I find that if I rest every few hours then it's not so bad. I also have compression garments that I'm still wearing 23hrs a day so that really does help with keeping the swelling down.

But don't worry what you are experiencing is normal and every day it will get better. The 6-8 week mark I always felt like I got back to "normal". Lol

I had my lower body lift 12 weeks ago now. The swelling comes and goes for me too. The numbness is still there too. I am taking St Johns Wort because it works to regenerate nerves to grow. It has helped me a lot. Healing takes time, and I still try to take it easy. You will get there, but just give yourself a little more time.

Happy Healing!!

I believe everyone is different. I had my lbl last august and still experience occasional numbness in my lower belly. Swelling lasted for about 6 months.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
