I was banded by Dr. Kuri and thought he, his staff and the hospital were wonderful. It is very convenient to San Diego and they pick you up at the airport (though the size of their van leaves something to be desired, you would think they they would realize they are picking up larger than average size people:ermm). I would have no reservations recommending him to anyone.

Just to put my two cents in, I was banded on Sept. 28, 2006, in Monterrey, Mexico, at the San Jose Hospital by Dr. Roberto Rumbaut. It was a great experience. And, yes, I was scared to death when I left. My sister went with me and thank goodness she brought a box of tissues with her. I cried at every step of the way thinking that I was making a huge mistake. I couldn't believe I was doing this in Mexico. Well, four months later and 57 pounds gone and I'm here to tell you it was not a huge mistake. Definitely do your research and find who you're comfortable with, and remember that when you get there, if you're not comfortable, you can always turn around and come back home...

Best of luck with your decision!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
