ask your MD, but I use Biotin and I did not lose much hair and even seem to have grown a lot more over the 2 years I have been taking it, post surgery. what makes me think it works is that I lost tons of hair after pregnancies and tons of hair on diets before the post VGS (with Biotin)

My doctor told me the key to not losing your hair is getting in your Protein. That really motivated me, and keeps me motivated to get in my 80 grams every day. So far, I have not had any Hair loss, but I don't know how far out it typically happens.

Sorry to tell you that you will probably lose some, no matter what you do. I just read an article in a magazine that talked about crash diets and basically said eating less than 1200 cal a day can cause you do lose your hair because of nutrient deficiencies. Since we are physically unable to eat that much, it is inevitable that we are going to be losing hair. Mine starting about a week or 2 ago. I'm 3 months out as of yesterday.

I don't know for sure but from what I have noticed people start to lose hair around 3 months out. And I know they say get 80 protiens in a day, but I find that very hard any tips on how yall are getting them in?

hang in there! there is a bottled clear drink from Isopure that comes in many flavors (apple-melon is best) it has 40gm Protein. I think you can get it at GNC or on Amazon. Also, once you are on solid food, you might try Quest bars (20gm. protein, low net carbs)

SueJH is right, there's nothing you can do to stop the hair loss but the Biotin, Protein etc ensures that new hair comes thru quickly and in good condition.

My Hair loss started around 3 months and continues 6 weeks later. As we are always told, there's no such thing as a free lunch - so I always thank my hair for its sacrifice as it swirls down the plug... Due to my improved diet, what I have has never looked shinier or healthier.

Stay calm, stress doesn't help :-) I got Toppik online which is Keratin fibres (what ur hair is made of) that match ur hair colour. U puff it into the roots and it creates the impression that u have more hair than u do. Doesn't blow away and washes out, no one can see it. I am pretty pleased with the result, feel I can get thru with this :-)))

I have heard lots of people say take Biotin but when I asked my doctor about it he said if doesn't really help that people think of does but really it doesn't do anything. So I haven't started taking it, thoughts?

My Hair loss started about 3 months out and I am now 8 months out and I am still lossing. I eat between 80-100 Protein a day. I have been taking Biotin since before the surgury. While I think I do see a little new growth my hair is still coming out. When will this stop!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
