I am on a 3 week PreOp diet I have been told I can drink 4-5 Protein Shakes a day (160 cal max) and have Clear Liquids. I was also told I can have greek yogurt. My question is what kind? The ones with fruit and vanilla are pretty high in carbs but the plain is awful. What kind did you all have to eat. I know I will need this for after also.

Oikos is good, I get the traditional style with no fruit on the bottom (can't have the fruit on the bottom kind yet) and I found a new one at Walmart called vokos and i like it a lot!!!

Fat free and sugar free. There are a ton of brands. Also try Icelandic yogurt at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, it's even higher Protein than Greek.

What do you put in it to stop the sour taste? I had the FAGE this morning plain 0% and I used a splenda in it. Is this what everyone does?

If I had to eat the plain kind I would just skip the yogurt all together!!

Put it in with your shake in the blender! It will make it thicker!

Fage is the best!

I like the Voskos brand Greek yogurt, as well as Brown Cow and sometimes Chobani. I am a yogurt snob and won't eat any yogurt that isn't 100% natural. I refuse to put artificial sweeteners or flavors in it. All natural yogurt will have a few more carbs, so I just eat low carb elsewhere, or don't eat as much of the yogurt.

Yes. I would put stevia in it and a bit of vanilla extract.

I put 1/4 c of sf vanilla pudding and 1/4 c of greek yogurt stir and add pumpkin spice or apple pie spice and makes it tasty. I am out 14 days and feeling great.

I love Dannon light and fit greek. It's the only brand that my nutritionist allows. She said all the others have too much sugar. They have tons of great flavors. strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, cherry. But my absolute favorite is the toasted coconut vanilla. It tastes like dessert! I eat at least one a day, they're a great Protein source.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
