What tells you that it's not working? Since I started taking sub-lingual B-12 post op, I haven't noticed any changes in the way I feel, so maybe mine is not working like it should.

If it's sublingual, are you taking it that way? sublingual means under the tongue.

Also, other things can cause lower energy. It may not be that Vitamin.

Are you getting your Protein in? What's your height/protein target? Mine is pretty aggressive, compared to others I've heard, but I'm 5'10" and it's 85g / day. We do body composition analysis and I have only lost 10 lb of muscle versus 40 lbs fat since surgery.

Have you had your blood work checked? Are you getting enough Iron? You can't take Iron and Calcium together - they need to be at least 2 hrs apart.

I have not taken the liquid form? Does that work better? I'm getting abt 55-65 grams of Protein a day. I'm required to get in 65g a day! My Iron is on the low side but I'm not sluggish just desire that boost of energy that's I've been looking since after having the surgery.

I used the Spring Valley sublingual B12 2500 mcg. They sell it at Walmart. I used it and it did the job. I just recently went to my 3 mont post op and the doc asked me to stop taking it because my B12 level was on the high side.

Maybe I shld try that but just use it in moderation like every other day. Thx for the information

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
