4 Week Update (the dreaded stall)

Recommended Posts

Yesterday marked 4 weeks since the sleeve. The first three weeks showed an incredible loss of 24 pounds. I hopped on the scale yesterday, and no loss (cue the music... duh, duh, duh)... the dreaded stall. Oh well, I'll take 24 pounds in a month. Plus, I'm down a few sizes in clothes, I can wear my wedding ring and I got to buy clothes from a regular store and they actually fit. I know I'm doing a good job eating (getting my Protein in and staying around 1000 calories a day), but I'm determined to get through this stall. I knew it was coming, but it is demoralizing nonetheless. Here's to a great start to the next 4 weeks and another 20 lbs lost forever!

fagedaboudit. You are doing really well... stay away from the scale for a week. Might help your head!

A few days with no loss does not a stall make. My weight loss since surgery has averaged out at about 8-10 pounds a month at three months out, so while 20 is an awesome thing to hope for, do not get upset if it's not reality. :)

Congrats on your awesome success so far! You are doing fantastic.

Same thing happened to me. Even though I knew there would be stalls, I took it really hard. LOL. In the last few days I have seen some weight loss, but I seem to be meandering. You're doing really well and this will pass. It is unpleasant to stall, though!

You're doing great....I'm 4 weeks out and down 17 pounds....I'm not worried about it, but I'm afraid of my dr's appointment next week and hearing that I haven't lost enough...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
